The top two games are one's T.O.'s played in. The novelty seems to be wearing off now though.

Never thought Allen drew that well?

they didn't , but that was before T.O. for once, it's good to see Sioux Falls not at the top of a IFL list. Cedar Rapids has had near capacity crowds for both of their home games, if someone could get people in the doors in Casper and Fort Collins, we might have something going here..

For the Allen v. Nebraska game the seats were half full so the TO thing is wearing off in a hurry as that was only their 2nd home game.

I remember in the early years of the Beef, they had 8000 crowds, things have sure died out there...why?

I remember some 7k crowds, but never 8k. Why?... hard to say. The solution to fix it though is more marketing. Start announcing the games on local radio again, work with a local tv station to air delayed broadcasts of home games later in the week, go back to advertising on ESPN radio there, flood the newspapers with article submissions, give the local tv sports departments the highlights of that night's game as soon as the game ends so it can air on the news, etc, etc, etc. The Beef do market and go out in the community, they could just do it a little more efficiently. When doing a charity event or community event, get the newspapers and tv stations to cover it. They won't cover everything, but you have to bother them and catch them on days when they need something to cover. You have to be aggressive. TV, radio, and newspapers are the three big ones. Billboards on the freeways are great, but you need to get with the big three more than anything else. The nightlife magazine Omaha Nightlife publishes stuff sometimes and they have comp seats in the first row, but they're not always there (I know since my seats were next to them when I was there). Coordinate with them each home game week and kiss their ass to get them to show and get pic's and articles in their magazine. That's where to start, but there's tons more.

Keep in mind that the IFL counts attendance on tickets sold or assigned, not butts in seats. The Nebraska/Everett game probably peaked out at a bit under 4,000 in the stands.

What is the number of average attendance that a IFL must get to get even?

What is the number of average attendance that a IFL must get to get even? I don't know if that can really be answered. Every team has expenses outside of payroll and some have better arena rent/concessions deals than others. Travel expenses figure in to the budget. I heard once that a road trip for the Nebraska Danger to Wenatchee Valley last year ran around $30,000 when all expenses were figured in. Then, figure in the other things the team is paying off, like the uniforms, game balls, printing costs, team bus/vehicles, etc... Another comment I recall from someone in the Danger organization is that they really didn't expect to break even on all of their organization start up costs till year three at best. So, I guess the short answer to your question is that every game attendance income is cumulative to the seasons needs in order to break even and every team has their own nut to hit.

I guess part of the income is from local sponsor as well.. do you define 3K people in the stand a good average considering the (supposed) low wages of the players!?

I guess part of the income is from local sponsor as well.. do you define 3K people in the stand a good average considering the (supposed) low wages of the players!? There are others in this board that are probably more qualified than I am to answer that. I'd say that the wages of the players cumulative checks are somewhere in the $5 to $6,000 range per game, so each home game needs to generate $11 or $12 thousand just to cover players checks throughout the season. That being said, I would think that 3,000 in the stands at hopefully $20 per head for ticket and concessions spending over 7 games equals $420,000. Add a decent amount of sponsorships and you're probably comfortably over half a million. Now, the expenses are a whole 'nuther animal. I don't think I'd want to try and own a team...
