Omaha at Wyoming
Coming into this game the Omaha Beef (2-3) are ranked #12 (they took a -5 drop in the ranking this week) while the Wyoming Cavalry (1-5) are ranked #13.
This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season (the Beef narrowly eeked out a win in Omaha earlier in the season). Both these teams are on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs go, but Wyoming is in the more desperate position at the moment. Last year these two team played a home and away series with both teams winning at home.
Both teams are somewhat of a disappointment this year, especially considering both have been two of the top teams to make the playoffs in whatever league they've been in over the years. Omaha's new coach Cowdrey brought in a lot of rookies and so far they haven't come together and played up to expectations. Wyoming didn't bring enough new blood and they've just become stale. They have a talented passing game, but that just isn't enough. Both teams need this win bad, which should make for a close game.
-------------------------------------
This week I'm going with the Wyoming Cavalry to get their second win of the season against a struggling Beef team that is 0-1 on the road and barely winning close games at home. I'm a fanatic Omaha Beef fan, but I try not to let that affect my prognosticating prowess (plus I'm hoping their low ranking and people picking against them will motivate them to get a win here ... hey it works sometimes when I pick against my San Diego Charger, lol). The Beef need their defense to step up and win games for them again if they have any shot at winning this one. Wyoming barely lost to the Ice last week at home, so if they can hang with them at home you know the Beef are going to have a hard time overcoming that homefield advantage.
