SHE spent her childhood chasing pigs and kangaroos around the Queensland outback - now Chloe Butler is chasing her dream of bringing America's glamorous Lingerie Football League to packed stadiums Down Under.
The former model is earning fame and fortune as an Aussie enforcer in front of a global television audience of 65 million and is spearheading the game's ambitious push into Australia.
The league will stage an All Stars Game at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on June 2 and is aiming to have Brisbane as one of four franchises in an Australian league to kick off in 2013.
Butler, who was taught to tackle by her boyfriend Canberra Raiders NRL star Travis Waddell, only started playing in the lingerie league after stress fractures curtailed her London Olympic hurdling dreams.
"I was brought up on a cattle property about 500 km west of Cairns I grew up chasing pigs and kangaroos," Butler, who plays for the Los Angeles Temptation, said.
"I moved down to Australian Institute of Sport when I was 18 and I was a runner there but I had a few injuries.
"I started modelling and there were some LA girls who looked at my physique and said 'You've got to come and play in this lingerie league'."
"Australian audiences would love the physicality and the aggression of the game, they are going to love the contact of it and the pace of the game and the entertainment."
Butler says she cops plenty of flak from critics who believe the sport is sexist and athletes shouldn't be in their underwear.
But she can't see the problem.
"I don't mind promoting a healthy body image.
"I run in pretty much the same outfit as I play in and I understand the marketing part of it.
"You've got to work with the cards you are dealt."
