RICHMOND VA.- The Indoor Football League (IFL) has named RB LaRon Council, DL Antoine Carter and KR Tywon Hubbard Vidswap.com Week 10 IFL Players of the Week.
Green Bay RB LaRon Council and Colorado DL Antoine Carter have been named Vidswap.com’s Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Wichita KR Tywon Hubbard has been named Vidswap.com’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
Carter and Hubbard are the first representatives from their respective teams to be nominated for IFL Player of the Week.
IFL Offensive Player of the Week: The Green Bay Blizzard defeated the Bloomington Edge 69-56 thanks to a strong performance from IFL rushing leader LaRon Council (5’10,205, Northwest Missouri St.). Council accounted for 113 rushing yards on 21 carries and three touchdowns in the Blizzard’s victory. He also added one catch for 15 yards. Council currently leads the IFL in rushing yards and is tied for the IFL lead with Sioux Falls QB Chris Dixon in rushing touchdowns with 16. The standout running back has rushed for nine touchdowns over the last three games. Council is the second Green Bay player to be nominated as an IFL Player of the Week. LB Greg Jackson was awarded Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3.
IFL Defensive Player of the Week: Carter (6’4, 265, Auburn) had a very dominant defensive performance for the Ice as he helped Colorado defeat the Wyoming Cavalry 48-33. A former member of Auburn’s 2010-11 National Championship team, Carter accounted for 9 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks in Colorado’s victory. Carter ranks third on his team in sacks (2) despite having only played in two games since signing with the Ice on April 11th.
IFL Special Teams Player of the Week: Wild KR Tywon Hubbard’s play was extremely consequential in Wichita’s 55-52 upset victory over the Allen Wranglers. Hubbard (5’11, 204, Central Missouri St.) returned five kickoffs for 132 yards and one touchdown. He scored the Wild’s first points of the game as he returned an Allen kickoff 53 yards in the middle of the first quarter. In addition to his kick returns, he also accounted for four total touchdowns vs. the Wranglers. Hubbard currently leads the IFL in All-Purpose yards with 945 yards.
