RICHMOND VA.- The Indoor Football League (IFL) has named RB Tywon Hubbard, DB Marcus Sargeant and KR T.J Simmons Vidswap.com Week 11 Players of the Week.
Wichita RB Tywon Hubbard and Reading DB Marcus Sargeant have been named Vidswap.com’s Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Cedar Rapids KR T.J Simmons has been named Vidswap.com’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
IFL Offensive Player of the Week: Wichita RB Tywon Hubbard (5’11,204, Central Missouri St.) followed up his Week 10 Special Teams Player of the Week with an incredible performance in Week 11. Hubbard accounted for six total touchdowns as the Wild whipped the Omaha Beef 77-41. During the game Hubbard rushed for 124 yards on 19 attempts and four touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 25 yards and another touchdown and returned the game’s opening kickoff for a touchdown. He finished the game with three kickoff returns for 83 yards. Hubbard leads the IFL with 1177 all-purpose yards. Hubbard has a league-high 10 total touchdowns in the last two games.
IFL Defensive Player of the Week: Sargeant’s stellar defensive play against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks is a key ingredient to Reading’s first winning streak of the season. Sargeant (5’10,185, Lackawanna) finished the game with nine tackles with one for a loss and as well as three interceptions as Reading defeated the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks, 37-34. His three interceptions in a game is the second highest in the IFL this season. He had all three of Reading’s interceptions in the game. Sargeant is Reading’s first player to win a Player of the Week Award this season.
IFL Special Teams Player of the Week: Despite a heart-breaking loss, 41-38, in a rematch against the Chicago Slaughter, Simmons (5’8, 180, South Dakota) set a Titans' record with 157 return yards on five returns. In addition, Simmons also returned the opening kickoff of the game back 56 yards back for a touchdown. Simmons leads the Titans in All-Purpose yards with 697. This is Simmons' second Player of the Week nomination this season. He was awarded Defensive Player of the Week in Week 7.
