I meant to post this a long time ago, but forgot. The photos below are shots of a Harrisburg Stampede game played at the York Ice Arena against the Virginia Badgers travel-only team. It was the only Harrisburg home game played at that facility in an effort to drum up local interest in a possible future expansion team. This is the worst, and most dangerous, application of laying carpet down that I have ever seen. Unbelievable. Games have been canceled for much less in more responsible leagues.

The turf in Omaha for the Storm game wasn't much better BC... scary actually..

@ least they had side board pads Those air mattresses as side board pads were funny, but I at least admire them for using a backup plan to have some padding at least (just shows how poorly planned they were to not have the sideboards in before the season started). There's no excuse for the turf being like that in the Harrisburg game though.

small venue, just a hockey rink so no sub floor to cove the ice for muti venue use. too much down time (lost $$$) to the venue to melt it out and then replace it.. some one had the "bright" idea they could just lay the turf on the ice and things would be ok...it works just like that on concreat...right? one bad call leads to issues, no one realizes its going to be a problem till the doors are open, but as the snow ball grows "The show must go on" , they had the mayor and a large sponsor instreded in a team there next year... I see it all the time in the entertainment world, witch often puts me @ odds with the promoter that hired me, as things have to be "right" for me to work.

The blame lies squarely with Harrisburg, they knew what's required to lay down turf and they didn't bother to see it done properly.
