FT. MYERS, FL - The UIFL is pleased to announce Dr. Jim Krause as league president.
Effectively immediately, Andrew Haines resigns as UIFL President and Krause will step into the role.
"After careful consideration, it is in the best interest of the UIFL for me to step away from league presidency," said Haines. "Dr. Krause will bring a fresh outlook to the UIFL, and it will allow me to focus on the Florida Tarpons and other business interests."
Dr. Krause has been navigating the sports industry for 40 years. He has experience in coaching, administration, recruiting, advising and developing programs and athletes at multiple levels.
His consulting companies, Title IX Consultant Services and Winning Sports Programs, have clients around the world. He has also just completed his 20th season working with the NABC and the NCAA at the site of the Final Four.
For the past seven years Dr. Jim has been preparing students and clients for professional opportunities for Sports Management Worldwide. His courses include Sports Administration and Coaching at the Next Level, as part of the SMWW core certificate program, are offered for undergraduate and graduate credit. Additionally, Dr. Krause is now recruiting and training a team of Sports Ambassadors around the world to introduce and expand the SMWW brand to sports clubs, managers, athletes and countries.
"It has been a dream to lead a sports league or conference and build something unique and manageable," said Krause. "The UIFL has strong leadership and a well-rooted group of core teams and owners. The rare scenario, to build a team-based league where the goal is to provide opportunities for sports professionals, will make this position a challenge with great upside."
Dr. Krause has experience coaching at multiple levels and many different sports. His basketball experience spans middle school through NCAA Division I, but he has also coached college football, golf, baseball and softball and resume stops also include high school soccer and softball. His years as an athletic administrator at multiple levels, has created this mental framework that he believes makes sports a manageable and profitable enterprise.
"Constantly rebuilding and retooling is an exhausting task," Krause adds. Building a strong foundation on basic business principals supports the development of the franchise. I always tell my students, and I will repeat this to the owners and coaches in the UIFL; "I will supply the knowledge base and some expertise, but you must supply the work-ethic and the passion for any goals to be realized."
A graduate of northeast institutions, Ithaca College and Elmira College, Krause has spent 12 yards in the South which will lend some understanding of how teams up and down the coast might be impacted differently. He is also the author of Guardians of the Game - A Legacy of Leadership and a co-author of Hoops Heaven, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
