So on the IFL website some Lehigh Valley fan was saying that Lehigh was better than the Storm because they had so many players move "up" to AFL or CFl this season despite the Storm going 14-0 (posted prior to the playoffs starting) and Lehigh back-dooring a playoff spot and going 6-8. So it got me wondering how many past or current Storm players have gone on to spend any amount of time on a AFL, CFL, NFL or UFL squad. Keep in mind that I am considering practice squad or tryouts as "experience" In all I fouind 45 players that had some type of "higher league" experience that had at one time been on the Storm's roster.

off the top of my head...
Murph spent time in Calgary (CFL) out of college, and in Grand Rapids in the arena league in 08
Douglass has kicked for the UFL california and Las Vegas I believe) and been in the training camps of Browns and Jets
Rouse, that's a bit of a stretch since he played one game for the Storm ;-) Scott Rislov signed but never played for the Storm

Man, I must be getting old. A handful of these names don't even ring a bell to me.
As for getting "called up" to different leagues. I don't put a lot of stock in that to assess a team or it's caliber of player Moving up has almost as much to do with timing, a good agent, etc as it does with actual talent. Over the years, I've seen several Storm players move to higher leagues... many of these players either didn't start for the Storm or were the 2nd or 3rd best in that position for SF. They moved on for a shot at a higher league, while the "better" players never got a call for one reason or another.

I dont take much stock in using that as a measuring stick of how good a team is either. But that argument from the dimwitted Lehigh fan piqued my interest. Like Bouncer said in an earlier post some of these guys were "on the roster" for the Storm but that doesnt necessarily mean that they had significant time, if any, on the field. I researched every player that was listed on the Storm wikipedia page and used that as my player roster. I think 5 rings and nearing a 6th is more of measure of a team than how many players go on to other things. Sure Fred Jackson is a stud but that doesnt necessarily mean the Bandits are a great team, and thats not a dig on SC, just using them as an example.

And how many of the guys that do get called up simply come to play for this IFL team or that IFL team while they are waiting for the phone to ring?

The lehigh guys just haven't figured out that the strom players make more money in sioux falls than they do in the higher leagues! LOL
Why would they take a pay cut to move up?
