According to the Massey ratings the toughest division in the IFL is the Great Lakes Division, not the Great Plains as many assume. I actually had heard and said this before the season even started, and the data doesn't lie. I know there is a lot of season left, but after 6 weeks... - Combined, they are 10-2 against non-division teams. - Every team currently has a winning record. - Every team currently has a positive point differential. - All 4 teams are within 1 game of each other in the standings. - If the playoffs started today, all 4 teams would make it. - And, interestingly, they are the only division that didn't change during the offseason. Discuss.

Yeah, the Great Lakes took over first place in Massey this week...deservedly so. With Wichita struggling and Nebraska expansion slow to start, you're left with only 2 out of 4 top teams in the Great Plains at the moment. With all four Great Lakes teams above .500 and playing tough outside their division, they deserve to be the number one division right now.
I'd take the Great Plains top two over the top two of the Great Lakes though, but that's a different subject.

yeah the GP division is down this year overall, but I think the GL division as a whole is "better".. but like BC said...SF and OMA are possibly the best two teams in the whole conference...

It would be interesting to see how Omaha played against Bloomington or Green Bay to see where those 3 teams stack up. Unfortunately Omaha doesn't play either one of them this year (instead they play Chicago twice). I think you are right that Omaha is probably better, but those would both be good games. Maybe at playoff time...

Well, Sioux Falls and either GB/Bloom will get a first round bye.
Omaha, GB/Bloom, 1 Atlantic, and La Crosse/Chicago in the first round. Since they do the geographical matchups in the first round it'd be hard to say who would play who. If the Atlantic winner has a bad record, I wonder if they'd have to go on the road or if because they're a divisional winner they get a home game.

we're assuming they're doing geographical match-ups in rd1 cause they did last year.. in this league who knows how it'll all shake out

goifl.com/history/playoff/According to this they are not doing geographical this year. In the first round #1 and 2 have a Bye, then 6 plays 3 and 5 plays 4.

Nice.
I am still curious about seeding though, but don't feel like E-mailing the office for clarification.
