Funny how both of Fayetteville's championships have been in absolute joke leagues. At least the one in 2007, although not a real title, was against a competent team in Wyoming and not a replacement team made up of various semi-pro players like last year.

The Cape Fear Heroes were rewarded for a season of perfection this weekend.
Players and coaches from the 2012 edition of the arena football franchise received rings during a ceremony at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux celebrating the American Indoor Football title they won last June.
The Heroes scored a decisive 79-27 triumph at the Crown Coliseum over the California Eagles in the championship game to complete a 9-0 season. It marked the second arena football crown for Fayetteville, following the Fayetteville Guard, who won the Budweiser Indoor Football Championship Bowl in 2007.
Cape Fear, coached by Charles Gunnings, scored 25 unanswered points against the Eagles in the AIF final and never looked back.
More than 100 people attended the ring ceremony, which kicked off with remarks from Cumberland County commissioner Charles Evans.
Team majority owner Barbara Spigner and Gunnings also spoke before the players were presented with their rings and a special gift from Spigner, which they were told not to open until later.
The surprise gift was a gift certificate for a celebrity cruise to the Bahamas. Spigner explained that the cruise was the first part of a plan to have the Heroes' players and coaches conduct instructional football clinics in the Bahamas.
