It's finally here - game week in Lincoln. Indoor football has seen its ups and downs in this town, from sellout crowds the first couple years of the Lightning, to the dismal final games of the Capitols where it was me, CF4L, fwp and maybe another 150 people.
This should be interesting to see how Lincoln reacts and whether they turn out or not.
PROS-The Haymakers staff have done a nice job of reintroducing indoor football. The players have been out for meet and greets at local places, they have a nice web presence, they have a number of ex-Huskers on the team (this is a must for Lincoln as a promotional tool). Also, its been a lot of years now and many may have forgotten about the previous problems with other Lincoln indoor football teams. I'm hoping the curiosity factor is there.
CONS-First game falling on a religious holiday, lingering feelings about the Capitols debacle, more competition for the entertainment dollar.

best guess is somewhere between 1500 and 2000.
the Teammates Mentoring program will be there as a large group. Dr. Osborne will be speaking.
From what I've seen they have sold quite a few season tickets. I'm excited.
Go Haymakers!

That's your prediction for the score CF4L? Lincolns gonna score a rouge? Probably sounds about right.

And I am guessing about 1,400 being it's Good Friday and it will be the first nice weather day in a long time, so people may spend the afternoon outdoors. Just a guess though. Lincoln is a good town and they love their huskers.

Was at Pershing Center for the Shinedown/Three Days Grace concert last night. After I purchased my concert ticket at the window, I asked the girl "selling many tickets for the football game Friday night?" She had a blank look on her face, so I said, "the indoor football game - the Lincoln Haymakers." She looked over at her co-worker in the next chair who apparently heard me, and she said "plenty of tickets left," then asked me if I wanted to purchase some.
I'm still sticking with my guess of 1,650. Hopefully the lure of Tom Osborne and the teammates deal will bring in some people.

Posted some old photos of the Capitols last game at Pershing in 2005 down in the NIFL section of the history area.

As much as I hope lincoln loses I still hope they have some success. The rivalry between omaha and lincoln could be great. I think the first game could be rough with atendance. Husker baseball playes at haymarket finally. They usually pull out about 4 to 5 thousand on nice days and today is one of them. Its also easter weekend. I wouldn't be discouraged by tonights attendance.

just shy of 2000...it was a good crowd all thing considered.
I had fun at the game, despite the outcome. I think the talent level of the Haymakers compared to the Express last year is noticeably better, but it lacks the experience indoors.
Should be a fun season. Congrats, Bandits on another win.

Here's some photos from the 2nd quarter from the top of the horseshoe on the west end of Pershing. Sioux City represented well, probably 100 or more fans there.
