To the CPIFL's credit, the league got through the season without losing a team or other (publicly known) major shenanigans.
Reg. season attendance avg.
Bloomington 2,449 (1 game missing)
Kansas City no games reported
Kansas 2,403 (only game reported)
Lincoln 1,717 (one game missing)
Mid-Mo 1,473 (four games missing)
Oklahoma no games reported
Omaha 2,568
Salina 3,839 (two games missing)
Sioux City 4,302 (one game missing)
Wichita 3,049
Sioux City, Salina, Wichita all look solid attendance-wise. Kudos to Wichita, Omaha and Sioux City for reporting every game. OTOH, Wichita's owner put his soccer team up for sale, then quickly folded it. (It looks like a disagreement between the owner and the league, but in minor league sports things are pretty unpredictable, so we'll leave up the question mark.)
Omaha, Bloomington don't look quite as healthy, but given both teams' off-seasons, it could have been worse.
Lincoln finished a season for the first time in years, so that might be something to build on.
Mid-Mo, Kansas, Oklahoma and Kansas City showed the biggest red flag of indoor football, no attendance reports. Are they hiding something or too embarrassed or just don't care? Someone on another thread said KC was sold and has committed to returning. Maybe a trip to Independence would help. Kemper couldn't have been cheap.
Expansion: Should there be? Will there be? Will it be just replacing teams that fold or jump to other leagues?
Where? Me, personally, I take the same philosophy in expansion as I do in cooking ribs — low and slow.
Some places to look: Dodge City, Enid, Des Moines, Cedar Falls-Waterloo, Ames, Iowa City, the Dakota Dome, Mulvane (new arena there right off the Kansas Turnpike), Conroe, Texas (just kidding). If KC stays in Kemper, how about Independence — too close? It's too bad Springfield, Mo., and Joplin don't have decent arenas. Same for Ponca City or Bartlesville. Is it too soon to try St. Joe again or is it still too burned over. Rapid City, too far north or does it help Sioux City?
Would anyone look to jump in? Colorado? Nebraska Danger? Dare I say it (dare, dare) Sioux Falls? Can we bring back the Blackhawks? Would Omaha let that happen?
So many questions.
