Maybe he bought the team to keep them afloat. Any word yet on why the previous owners sold the team?

I feel bad for the Lincoln team/fans. I hope all works out for the best for them. I haven't heard a word about it except to confirm it happened. Anyone know anything?
And it has happened before that one team bought another to keep it afloat. Hopefully Omaha lets Lincoln manage their own people and staff separately from Omaha to keep things fair for them.

Bob Scott bought the Beef in '07 to keep them afloat until another owner (Sprowls) was found the following year, for which I'm always thankful for. Beef still made the playoffs that year, while the Bandits didn't.

Hey...at least it has to make the Lincoln players and fans excited that their owner took a picture with Santa with a sign reading "all I want for Christmas is a Beef Chanpionship" and posted it to Facebook. Lincoln is clearly high on his priority list. Worse would be a Lincoln-Omaha championship game scheduled at Lincoln, where the owner wants to move the game to Omaha and the Lincoln players and coaches boycott. (See Wichita-Koyotes APFL championship debacle, AKA (in pro wrestling parlance) "the Wichita Screwjob."

We didn't renew our season tickets for this very reason and we had 6 front row seats. Like it or not, the cpifl is turning into a semi-professional league. Sioux city and wichita are the only teams signing quality players. When has the beef announced any signings? Heck the kansas koyotes have announced player signings already. They spend too much time promoting their 25% off deal on all tshirts. When it comes time to play Lincoln it wont even have the feeling of a rivalry game. I might make it out to a couple of games this year, but I'm not going all out like I did last year. The quality of players has dropped significantly from what i've saw on the transactions page. One of the two teams will suffer because of this merger and don't be so quick to think Lincoln will be the one to suffer. Lincoln has the Husker football team right in its backyard to pluck players from after graduation.
Oh and I forgot to add that the front office had absolutely no record of us being season ticket holders last season. Just goes to show how organized they are.

The Beef office has suffered through disorganization nearly every season. I could go on about that for hours.
I'm two time zones away now, but if I was still there I would still have front row seats. The org definitely doesn't seem to be going the way we want, but they are still alive and are still the longest running indoor/arena football organization around (without taking a year off like the AFL did) heading into their 15th consecutive season. I support my teams win or lose (long suffering Chargers fan here).
Maybe the Beef will turn it around before the season starts, but it's not looking good so far.

Both teams will end up being a joke. You cant afford to bring in out of town guys and what are you going to do divide the local talent??? They screwed up last year by breaking up the talent and dividing them between Cities.

I believe they're having a joint tryout this weekend in Lincoln.

Unfortunately, the purchase of Lincoln does not appear to be as noble as when Bob Scott purchased the Beef to save them. Unlike that situation, word has it that he has both teams working as one, both teams' coaches talking to each other to decide which players should play where, and even apparently a joint tryout this weekend. Wonder why they have not made an actual announcement that Lincoln is under new ownership? Maybe it's because the owner's kid was starting fights in the stands with the Lincoln fans at the Pershing last year? Or maybe just because they don't want fans to know that both teams area operating as a single organization... Need to keep an eye on roster moves the Beefmakers make this season with each other.

Either way both teams are going to be subpar this year. I just cant grasp in my mind how your going to own two teams have joint try outs... I get the owner probably thinks hes going to make money. but lets be real... the beef vets want money that they are not worth and who is Lincoln going to get? should combine to one team and stack up on local talent and bring in a few key guys

Already happening?
Transaction wire has Lincoln trading one of their best players (Grixby) to Omaha for 2 players to be named later.

Looks like they resigned Nero (who is pretty good but strong D-Ends abused him last year) Patterson (is he going to be ready after his knee being destroyed like it was?) Bradford (last year was way out of shape it looked like) Whitted(spelling?) who was also hurt during the season. Sounds like a banged up roster already to me.

I've been told by a couple reliable sources that the sense of urgency to even field a competitive team is not priority...All about ticket sales and they will come regardless of what type of team is there. Its quite evident with the direction this team has taken.....I mean c'mon. There has been a solid fan base for years that love the old hated rivalries that included the Storm, Bandits, Colorado and the Old Lincoln team. The Beef one some good ones and lost some good ones- made it fun! Why would you have holding hands sing along sessions with the rivalry...trading secrets..players.... Really! Good Luck-As I've stated before I'm moving on to the Danger! at one time a great new rivalry!

What a joke....the front office in Lincoln runs the front office in Omaha too....heck the Lincoln head coach is selling Omaha beef sponsorships...there was no trade, it was basically just "re-assigning" a player within the organization....to the organization the owner thinks can make more money.

There is no Rivalry any more all hes trying to do is make money... and that's exactly why the beef will never NEVER win a championship terrible owners, terrible coaching staff... they had all the talent in the world and cant put it together
