I've only been following indoor football for a couple of years. I see that another travel team, Savannah Steam, got trounced last night. Has there ever been a travel team that was competitive? Not necessarily winning, just competitive?

PIFL Louisiana Buccaneers travel-only team (the remnants of the Louisiana Swashbucklers after they folded) beat the Knoxville Nighthawks 58-20 on 7 June 2013. To the PIFL's credit, after the Swashbucklers folded, they created a new LLC and brought most of the coaches and players from the Swashbucklers over into a new team called the Buccaneers to finish out the Swashbucklers season. They are the best travel-only team that's ever played indoor football and were competitive in the few games they played.
UIFL travel-only team Rome Rampage beat Mississippi Hounddogs to start the season. Mississippi folded not long after that game and Haines used their jerseys to put non-pro players in them and pretend the team was still alive as a travel-only team themselves.
