You guys are all indoor football wh0res ;D I have been away for quite some time but I have occassionally stopped by to see what my people were discussing. Sounds like things are coming along with the league - went through some crazy times - ups & downs - but it is after all indoor football I am talking about. I tried to stay away for a bit but I just can't be away for long. I miss the players, the fans, and the coaches - (even Sanders - he'll be happy to know at least SOMEONE out there misses him). The only thing I don't miss is the shady recruiting and it sounds like it is alive and well - and as strong as ever. Hopefully as the league improves they will increase the pay scale (or at least increase the win bonus) and cut the balls off of the cheaters - enough whining by me for those that can't For you guys in Omaha - I'll be down your way on Dec 6th so hopefully I'll be able to see some of you. I heard there was a group from fargo, ND that showed some interest - of the 3 places to put a team in ND - Fargo would be the last place I would try. Reason - NDSU! Is chimchim creeping around this board? If my adopted home town of North Pole/Fairbanks, AK can get a team - it is killing me we don't have one in Bismarck. I keep saying I need to shake the tree here but I guess other than taking the time to post on this prestigous MB - I stay busy trying to keep my head above water + I don't break bread with the big timers here in B-town. I just chill with the common folk - you guys that know me know I am just some guy off the street. As I stated on the old board - I did get a job offer in the MHL and I am seriously considering accepting it. I gotta go learn how to skate - peace out.

"what in the wide wide world of sports is a going on here?"
Thanks for the laugh BT - I have had the DVD for months and haven't watched it so that was the first time I've even seen/heard that bonehead coach talking like he knows something. Outstanding!

I don't think it was boneheaded at all. If anything it lacked polish, but it's not like you do it for a living, nor could I do it any better, ergo I gave it 2 thumbs up.

As I stated on the old board - I did get a job offer in the MHL and I am seriously considering accepting it. I gotta go learn how to skate - peace out. Yeah, we love indoor football. The IFL isn't done yet, I believe there's more news to come. Sanders was in Omaha for the league meetings last month and we saw him at a league/beef dinner, along with other league bigwigs. Recruiting and paying under the table will always be shady, we both know that (although others on here still have their head in the sand). The only way that will change is if the league becomes more successful and a player union and a league investigative body is established (seriously doubt either will happen). There's already a thread about player pay, and even though I and others want it I doubt a player pay increase will happen in the foreseeable future. Hope to see you on 6 Dec. I'd love to see a team in Bismark (and you back in the league coaching), perhaps in 2010? I wish you the best in whatever your job future holds, but I'd still like to see you back as coach in Omaha. Good luck with skating. I go roller skating with my daughter, but the main thing for me is to avoid falling nowadays, my bones aren't as malleable as the young kids zooming by me and crashing and burning. P.S. Sorry about your Raiders getting their heads handed to them last week (and other weeks...and the rest of the year), ok, not really...go Bolts (but down with Norv)! I hope Al Davis remains above the ground for many years to come as it seems his incompetence (or is it incontinence?) will ensure that the Raiders will be at the bottom of the NFL for years and years to come...commitment to excellence indeed...lmao!

I can't believe none of you guys asked me what the MHL is and who I am going to be coaching!!!
It would take me moving somewhere else for there to be a team in Bismarck ;D
Raiders? You must have me confused with someone else - the only time I have ever cheered for the Raiders is when my old JUCO teammate Charlie Garner was a RB for them.
I am jacked to see the first game of the 2009 season when Bloomington has to drive to Fairbanks.
Good luck to my North Pole Patriots (Alaska) as they prepare for their first round home game tonight.

Thank you Abyss! It still could end up as a head coaching gig but I am going to except the goalies coach position with the Oaxaca Chiclets of the Mexican Hockey League. It's an up & coming team in Mexico's poorest city. It also gives me the opportunity to be reunited with the man that gave me my first head coaching gig in Kearney as he is the majority owner. We were kinda of going back & forth on how I was going to be paid. I tried to explain I don't drink tequila, I don't need any goats, I'd rather have a car than a burro, I'd rather have a hotel room than sleeping in my car (or on my burro). Is 15,000 pesos a lot of money? We already have meals secured but housing is a little tough to get squared away. We already have Leif Murphy signed as a defensemen and we are trying to get his brother from another mother Richard Johnson signed too. That would really bolster our defense. That was why I needed to learn how to skate BC. It is hard to learn how to skate in Bismarck because with our winds - if I am not careful I could be asking Abyss to give me a ride back home. Holy smokes Huskers.

I knew MHL signified hockey, but thought you were joking so I let it go. I assumed by your avatar logo that you liked the Raiders...my bad. Which NFL team do you like then? Chargers = good taste, anything else = bad taste.

Holy smokes Huskers. See, I knew you were joking. Huskers still haven't recovered from Severe Callahan's tenure as coach, it may take awhile. I don't mind since I'm not a Husker fan, but I have strangely started to feel sorry for them...must be the influence of all my Beef fan friends who are also Husker fans. Gotta love Beavers though, Oregon State that is, taking down USC last week...that's my team, probably their best football moment since they beat down Notre Dame in a bowl game a few years back (the NBC announcers were so biased towards ND on that game you could hear the anguish in their voice as they were getting smacked down).

Sorry BC - I am always dropping the MHL reference. I picked it up back in the day when I read Friday night lights. Hope you enjoyed my short story - I'm not a great announcer so maybe I will try writing I don't have class ha ha - 49ers are my team and I have claimed them through recent years but I don't plan my Sundays around their games. Much more of a college FB fan. My avatar is the jolly roger. It is a UMary football tradition to walk out with the jolly roger - we talked about it on the former board but I think you were out of the country at that time. Boy are they struggling this season. Congratulations to my NP Patriots winning their first round home game in the snow and mid 20 degree weather. Got to get em in quick up there. I liked the Huskers growing up and once I got over how crazy it is down there I enjoyed following them in person. I think everyone knew they'd get smoked last night but hopefully things will change for them and the big red fans.

I thought the MHL would be the Mentally Handicapped League. Kidding kidding. Coach I hope to see you on the 6th.

I think everyone knew they'd get smoked last night but hopefully things will change for them and the big red fans. Great story. You and Phatty Matty should get together, you both have great imaginations. Too bad about the niners' today, they had a shot. Norv Turner still bites as a coach, makes me mad he's coaching my team. I didn't know the jolly roger was a UMary thing. I went to one 'Husker game, back in '04 I think, whichever the year was that Callahan first took over I think it was...I just know they were doing really bad that year and Missouri was coming to town. I went with the Meatheads on a bus trip, a party bus, actually a tricked out bus that had a really nice professional paint job on it with lifelike images of the husker national championship trophies. Alcohol was flowing really freely and I had a lot. We got there early and tailgated for many hours before the game. Everyone had tix except me since I was a last minute joinee. I got a $35 scalpers ticket to sit with the Missouri fans, which wasn't too bad. At halftime I went back to the tricked out bus and drank some more. Huskers beat Missouri without too much difficulty as Missouri wasn't as good as they are now. We all went back to the bus and drank and ate more...wooo. After traffic died down we headed back to Omaha. We stopped at some rest stop and evidently people say Dan and I rolled around on the grass where the pets do their thing, I can neither confirm or deny this as true. When we got back to Omaha we went to a bar that I don't remember going to (I had a ride) and then Mad Cow, Dash (the famous former Rump Roaster), and I dressed in drag (still not sure why Dash had drag costumes in the back of his truck, but it was Halloween weekend) and hit the dance floor. Quite a night it was, my first and last 'Husker game. If you go with Beef fans it's not bad at all.
