IMO this is the most logical move for the bandits. Our fans show up when we suck that says more than 90% of other teams. If we win sure message board people will say hey they had to move to the APFL but guess what, it doesn't matter. The fact of the matter is Teams like Sioux falls and omaha have the oppurtunites to house players and meal tickets and extra income(like setting up jobs) for some players the sioux falls owner said so himself on a radio show the other day. I will go and support my team for better or worse.
It will suck not playing sioux falls and omaha a couple times a year. Im gonna be heading down to a couple omaha games at least this upcoming season though. But I'm sure a road trip to the MAC will be fun.

I severely doubt that an owner said they were paying the players extra income. A statement like that needs to be quantified with a direct quote, and put in context.

No he just said it was hard to previde meal tickets housing, etc for the players in smaller markets, which isnt against the rules, its just a benefit of having a decent owner and a decent town where you can get ur players jobs.

But of course he is also wrong in what he says right?

That's a rival coach speculating on what another team is doing. Not a coach saying "We overpay our players". Very different.

I just noticed Doom edited his post to specify the extra income comment with "like setting up jobs". That I will buy. I am sure Dixon will have a second job in Sioux Falls soon. But who can live off of IFL pay? I am sure most players look for 2nd jobs..

This is a big step-down for the Bandits. Fans will be very disappointed with the talent pool (other than S.City will probably dominate now) and the fact that there is only four or five home games a year is a slap in the face of season ticket holders.
Also keep an eye on teams actually playing their games...every year in this league games go unplayed.

I guess you're right. Trying to get 4 or 5 teams within a few hours of each other to show up is quite different than 28 teams, nation-wide.
Comparing the IFL to the APFL is not even rational. It's like comparing the NFL to the UFL figuratively speaking.
Here's to the APFL..."The nation's smallest indoor football league."

nothing wrong with being small.
You're saying because the IFL is big that it is ok that they don't live up to their responsibilities?
That's like saying "I have 12 kids, but that is a lot, so I'll take care of 10 of them, it's a good percentage, right?"
The IFL claims that they are the premier league. They don't live up to the billing.
The APFL doesn't lie about what they are. A small, regional league in 4 or 5 towns that have smaller fan bases, with guys passionate about playing the game (both professionally and semi-professionally).

Yeah i originally thought i added that in there then i read ur post, wondering where the hostility was from. but i saw and edited it. No owner would be stupid enough to admitting they pay extra especially to a media member. lol.

Pretty sure also listening to radio other day APFL schedule is supposed to be 14 games this upcoming year, 7 home 7 away. I'm not going to lie and say Sioux City fans are generally smart, but we are what we are. passionate and loyal to our team. How many other teams can you say people show up to watch in big numbers when their team is doing bad. And for years on end. Obviously I'm a little upset about the move, but it makes the most legit sense if the bandits want to compete.
The fans Love Jensen Mothershed Tonga who have committed to play next year, they play with heart and are great players and people. I would expect a couple APFL teams could compete with the bottom half or so of the IFL teams. Sioux city did. With the economy the way it is, sponsors are harder to come by and noone wants to sponsor a losing product. Here in Sioux City we just don't have the assets to compete with likes of omaha and sioux falls and make the playoffs which it the goal. If we were in most of the other divisions last year and got to beat up on scrub teams over and over the record would have gotten us into the playoffs.

JMO 14 games against league (not non-league teams) would be great...hope it comes true for you.
I've been to a ton of APFL games (some I wish I could take back...my eyes, my eyes...the burning...oh wait, that burning is coming from somewhere else...nevermind) and when the Bandits play the Blackhawks, Koyotes, and Outlaws (and perhaps Wolfpack...depending on who their players are) you'll see some competitive games (also depending on who Scott brings back for the Bandits besides Tonga, Jensen, and Mothershed). The APFL between those teams is very watchable and enjoyable, so you will have a good time at those matchups (generally speaking...blowouts can happen between two good teams when a good team is in the zone and the other team is having a bad day).
There's no doubt Sioux City would've been in the playoffs if they were in any of the three Intense Conference divisions last year, and perhaps the two other United Conference divisions. They played the best three teams in the United Conference multiple times because they were all divisional opponents...ridiculous. When a division is that stacked it's not fair to many teams, and Sioux City is the one who payed the ultimate price. Here in Sioux City we just don't have the assets to compete with likes of omaha and sioux falls... Don't forget about Wichita.
Poor Nebraska Danger, eh? They're taking Sioux City's spot in that division basically...yikes.

CF4L...point taken, but let's remember that the overhead and work necessary to balance 5 teams is quite different than a 22-28 team league. I'm sure owners in the NFL would argue that the league doesn't take care of them either...you'll find that in every league. The only reason those NFL teams don't fold...or at least none in recent years....is because they are all billionaires and can afford it.
