It will take more than just him. One team cannot carry a league. The others need to be solid as well.

Every upstart indoor football league has to prove itself to the legions of us skeptical fans of this unique sport. Time will only tell and hopefully time will tell us mostly good things about the CPIFL.

Like you said all upstarts will have their ups and downs but in a few seasons this league will be one of the best imho.

It will take more than just Bob, but so far it has good leadership and support among various teams interested in a 'better way' of doing things. Just like any new business, adjustments have to be made in the process. but I'm excited and the potential of this league!

Like I said, he has done this before. Where do you think the IFL came from. Sioux City, Sioux Falls (for the first time in capitol letters to prove a point) and Omaha. Three teams that thought the NIFL was not quite the "premier" league that it thought it was. Now, however many years later, we are in the same boat and one man has the guts to keep trying until he gets it right.
He can't do it by himself. He has to have us 3 to 4 thousand fans to keep showing up to the Bandits games to prove that indoor football is a good sport that fans can love.
Ever since we joined the APFL, I have been saying that all we have to do is prove that we can do it better for cheaper and the other quality teams that can't afford to pay Dixon or Owens, can come and play with us and do it right and have a great product that the fans will love. I love it and with this new league, I can't freaking wait till next year to see what will happen.

Or, even the ones who can afford to pay Dixon and Owens grow tired of the associated headaches and long for a return to hearing the words "Augustana College" during intros... unfortunately I do fear that the relationship between the two organizations is beyond repair, and getting the "Sioux's" back together is a pipe dream, at best.
Most Storm fans don't know that we owe Bob a debt of gratitude for even existing. Without his help during the NIFL days we wouldn't be here, Omaha can say the same thing. He may be a meddler and a miser, but he's been successful (financially) in whatever league he's chosen to play in, and you'd be hard pressed to argue with results like his.

I think new ownership might mend some of that, but that's probably not going to happen. But Texxx, you aren't the first Sioux Falls fan who is tired of the lack of local players. You never get to see anybody develop there anymore. It's all just, "get Division I players or proven indoor players" and it becomes an arms race. Hell, I was tired of Sioux City bringing in a constant turn-over of new players who were gone in 3 weeks if we weren't winning. There was such a revolving door it was insane. I think everyone benefits from stability of not just an organization, but of the players. Especially when most of them are local or fairly local. There have been some great players we'll never forget who were local. Would Fluitt and Flyger have even been considered in the current Sioux Falls mold? Makes you wonder if they would have been overlooked, but they sure as hell made life miserable for the Bandits. At the same time, there's still value in recruiting from outside as well. I mean, we've gotten great guys like Ardley and Scott Jensen who wouldn't be here otherwise. And then they become local and it's even better. But you have to limit that amount. I think in the APFL it was only 2 or 3 you could recruit from outside the radius. They had to LIVE within the radius, doesn't matter where they went to college. Not sure what the CPIFL will do there. Bob has shown he can keep teams going and make them profitable and has done a great job there. He stood by his guns and wouldn't match the pay other teams were offering, so the players would always whine and tell us how cheap Bob was. Well, whether it was cheap, frugal, or just playing by the rules, you could at least say he stood by it. For awhile, I didn't understand it, all I heard was constant complaints from the players. Makes sense now. Plus Bob smiles a lot more now. People will end up saying a lot of things about Bob, but they need to know this. Right now, he runs a football team, does volunteer work, had to organize a daughter's wedding and travel to that, works with charities, runs his businesses, and is trying to organize a league. He deserves a ton of respect of how much he's busted his butt and managed to juggle a ton of things.

And a Mayor of our city...nice post AB. I agree. Well said. Bob has done a lot for this community and for the sport. He can be called a lot of things, but you always know what you're getting with him, too. He won't blow smoke up your a$$ but he will tell you straight up what the deal is. And you're right, AB, he does smile a lot more now than he used to. It's good to see!!!

Yeah, Bob's pretty blunt and doesn't mince words. If he sees it as a Spade, he'll call it that. Some people hate him for it, some love him for it. It can work both ways. I'm, quite frankly, glad that he's the mayor of our city. We needed someone like him to cut through all the b.s.
