I'm brand new to the IFL, how does it differ from the AFL? Style of play? Rules? Wikipedia has nothing, and I cannot find this information anywhere. Please educate me.

AFL rules were set up to favor the offensive passing game.
IFL rules are basically just like NFL rules, except it's on a smaller field indoors and played with 3 less players on each side. Running successfully was impossible in the AFL, but in the IFL you can have a very powerful rushing attack just like in the NFL. The defensive side of the ball isn't hampered by rules to make them less effective as well, so there can be great defensive teams inthe IFL, but it is still a 50 yard field so the scoring will be higher overall. You have specialists for each positition, just like in the NFL, there are no two-way players such as the AFL has.

Well, the IFL is a brand new league this season, merging two leagues that had fairly different rule sets last season.
Expect balanced offenses, good defensive schemes and good times!

From everything I've heard it's just like the UIFA rules set.

BC:
I wouldn't expect anything different, but with the wealth of information the league is putting out.. (sarcasm intended) We can't be too sure.

couple different things ive heard so far, cut blocking is now legal and stupid, fumbles and kickoffs are live off the wall, and the LB no longer has to raise his hand to blitz.

From everything I've heard it's just like the UIFA rules set. Actually, several rule changes were voted in at the league meetings which would lend truth to what BT posted.

Well, only way to know that would be if the league put out any info, so in that respect ; they are just like the UIF.

I'm brand new to the IFL, how does it differ from the AFL? Style of play? Rules? Wikipedia has nothing, and I cannot find this information anywhere. Please educate me. There is no Jack in the Box linebacker in the IFL(UIF) defensive rules, so instead of having a defender who can only jump up and down, (and in 2008 run sideline to sideline) the linebacker can actually play the position of linebacker and not an Arena Football `quasi football' gimmick position. The real genuine defense combined with the aforementioned balanced offenses that include super exciting running plays in addition to the spectacular passing attacks that one expects on the 50 yd gridiron, all add up to real football action and thrills galore for the fans. oh yeah ... there are no rebound nets. But after about 2 or 3 min. you don't miss them. And lot's fans clamor to the endzones during extra point and field goal tries, because with- out nets, it's a LOT easier to snag a ball to keep. basically outside of the improvement, you won't know the difference.

It is very similar to the NFL, except indoors. As thankful as we are for the AFL to bring the game indoors, it was just too pass-happy and too gimicky for many of our tastes.

I still liked the pass happy AFL. Maybe even a tiny bit more than the indoor style. depends on the day.
