It was announced that both the Alaska Wild and Wichita Wild teams will keep the Wild nickname for the 2009 season. I can't see them both keeping the same name for the year after that while playing in the same league though.
My name suggestions for potential new nicknames are below:
Alaska: Freeze Gold
Wichita: Aviators (I think APFL still has rights to that name, but if not that'd be my pick) Bombers Jet Fighters (Rock the Casbah ref) Fighting Mad Aerialists

I think they'll both keep the same name. Too many factors involved in changing. Wichita can't take another name change - even with everything else the same -it just would be seen as more instability. I don't know how Alaska would handle it, but I think it would be very, very bad in Wichita.
And as far as the Aviators name - that is the only thing that I can think of that would make it even worse. That name is not a good thing down here. Certain death.
Bombers was the basketball team that died before they got off the ground.
Jet fighters - I don't think we even have many jet fighters here - more of a refueling wing. Wichita refills?
(I think the Jets was a baseball team at some point) _Think it is time to stay away from the Aviation theme if there was a new name.

I dont think having wichita change its name would help matters any, almost certainly kill a bad team as it is, as for name changes Alaska Eskimos(I know cheesy but hey) Night(This may seem weird, but given alaska's darkness I thought this might be appropriate) Fliers(because they are so **** far away from everyone)

The ALASKAN NIGHT, I like that sound of that.

Alaska could almost have endless cool names for nicknames, everything seems to fit with it.

There's no point in either team changing their names and having to completely rebrand their organization, especially considering that there's a rare chance that either team will ever play each other, exept for maybe a playoff game or two.

The Alaska Denali's
Wichita needs 2 ro 3 years of stability. I think the sport can take off in Wichita.. and moving to a bigger league will be positive for them. but they have a lot of work to do

Good or bad? Cuz I haven't. There was an email sent out about 4-5 days after the All Star game saying how great our guys played. That was about it. THe website sux, the message board admin makes excuses - I don't work for the team, no one trained me, other company does our emails Media doesn't care, but it seems they don't have much reason to lately. There was a message board rumor of a "big splash" whenever they announce the coach that was signed weeks ago.

well I have to say that you obviously didnt pay attention to the Intense League this season. Alaska had a good team and was playing very well until they had a little of a upper office issue that caused some distractions. After those distractions, the team kind of went downhill. It was ashame really, they had the Swashbucklers old wide out and they were murdering people. But then it went south, litterally! But dont count them out, that team had deep pockets and can pay for "shortend travel' for themselves and recruit the talent to help them into the playoffs. It should be interested come december when we get the new league rules and then all of the teams really start building based off of that. I CANT WAIT....
Buckle UP!!
