Is ya boys thinkin' about expansion? That would be a great rivalry with the Bucs, and image how many of us would be in the Ford Arena, it would look like a Bucs home game...lol!

It's a good idea. But I would suggest stearing clear of Ford Arena. The location just flat out sucks. And the civic center is more than adequate and the cost would be significantly lower.

no, I'm talking about the Beaumont Drillers in regards to expansion... Well then, I take back what I said. That has to be the all-time worst idea I've ever heard. Just horrible.

hahahaha...not so fast...Lamar is starting up their football program again, and they'll be playing in the southland in a couple of years. thus, a funnel of future talent for the drillers, they need to join.
is there a civic center or venue they could play in closer to the city or in the city limits?

E_19 The civic center is inside the city limits. I believe it's pretty close to downtown Beaumont and is very easily accessible. Plus it's only a fraction of the cost of the Ford Arena to put on an event there. You can have the best team in the league. But what good is that when it's the worst franchise in the league? Beamont needs a new franchise with new owners. And they need to get away from the cancer that is the Drillers.

The civic center is in the heart of downtown. It is a little old but it is still pretty nice. The Drillers first few seasons were played there. It seats around 4,500 of course I think the best we were able to do was around 3,000. The Drillers have had some very talented players and coaches over the years. The problem has been the owner made some poor decisions in how to run the team off the field.

I know one party who is very interested in putting an IFL franchise in the Civic Center.

Me likes a PARTY I will bring the beer. In 05 the rent for the CC was around 3,000. Thats when Ford Park matched the rent plus gave some concessions to lure the team over. I bet a team could get around the same rent now.

The person I talked to said that he had already been negotiating with the Civic Center. According him, he could the CC for just a little over 2/3 of that.
