CALIENTE’S CACCAVALE EXPECTS BIG SEASON IN MIAMI
Tina Caccavale knows it takes hard work and dedication to be able to compete on the football field. She also knows it takes even more work and desire following surgery – something she faced just a few months ago to fix a slight rotator cuff tear.
The rehab process isn’t easy, but Miami Caliente’s Caccavale is tackling it.
“I go to physical therapy three times a week and I work with resistance bands daily,” stated the wide receiver/safety/kicker. “I feel so much better. I have 100% of my range of motion back already and I’ll be ready for the start of the season.”
Caccavale is a rare triple threat on the field. She caught 14 passes, registered 40 tackles and picked off two passes last season. However, it’s clear she favors one spot more than any other.
“My favorite position is wide receiver. I just love going out for a pass and attacking the ball in the air, coming down with a reception and then celebrating with my teammates.”
Although WR might be where she enjoys lining up most, Caccavale will do whatever it takes for the Caliente to be a force.
“I will play anywhere that my coaches ask me to play. I have been training on the field, not only catching passes, but also playing defense and getting training from (former NFL defensive back) Sam Madison to perfect my technique. He works me out hard to make me a smarter and stronger football player.”
Her goal for this season is to catch at least 25 passes and score five touchdowns on offense. When she’s on defense, her opponents better know where she is or trouble might be around the corner.
“I’m a head hunter on the field. I’m hungry and I get into a zone. I just try to play to the best of my ability at all times,” added Caccavale, who has a decade of experience playing tackle football.
Off the football field, the 27-year-old from Hollywood, Fl., has plenty on her plate. She’s a certified dental hygienist, a model for Kimurawear (an MMA line of clothing) and works part-time for Ritchie Swimwear.
At this time of year though, the focus turns to what needs to happen for the Caliente to win the Lingerie Bowl. If confidence was enough to win championships, Caccavale would be getting ready to put a ring on.
“Miami is going to win the Eastern Conference championship because we have so many naturally talented players with great attitudes and so much heart. We’re hungry and we all have a chip on our shoulders after losing to Tampa (28-18 on Jan. 22) last season. Most of the veterans have returned and many have years of experience playing tackle football. We don’t mind being the underdogs.”
Is there one game on the Caliente’s schedule that Caccavale has targeted as the one she’s most looking forward to playing this season?
“The game I’m personally looking forward to most is on February 6, 2011 – The Lingerie Bowl. You will see the Miami Caliente there this season.”
