LFL ANNOUNCES THE 2011 OHIO MARKET RIGHTS HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO THE CITY OF CLEVELAND
The Lingerie Football League offices have announced that the city of Cleveland, Ohio has been awarded an LFL franchise which will be called the Cleveland Crush set to begin play in Fall 2011 at Quicken Loans Arena.
Over a 5 week window, an LFL record 26,745 Cleveland and surrounding areas residents emailed the league offices hoping for the rights to be awarded to Cleveland over Columbus. Nearly 7,500 team name submissions were also sent in, the name submitted the most was Cleveland Crush. The winner of the name submission will be announced later this week and will be provided lifetime season-tickets to Cleveland Crush home games at The Q as well as the opportunity for the Opening Night coin-toss.
LFL officials are expected to host a press conference preceeding the start of the first Cleveland Crush Mini-Camp in April 2011. The league will also start interviews with prospective front office and football operational personnel. Any qualified individuals as well as prospective players can email Talent@LFLUS.com.
“While we appreciate the excitement from fans and media from the Columbus market, which we expect to revisit for 2012, it is with great pleasure to announce that the Cleveland Crush franchise will kickoff in Fall 2011.
We could not be more excited to be in a market like Cleveland with its storied history in support of its pro teams, whether they won or lost. LFL Football will translate incredibly well and based on the initial fan support, we suspect Cleveland will a top market for the league. In fact, we expect to host the Opening Night celebrations and game of the 2011 season right here in Cleveland”, said, Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
