GRIDIRON GODDESSES OF THE LINGERIE FOOTBALL LEAGUE ARE COMING TO MINNESOTA
MINNEAPOLIS FRANCHISE SET TO KICKOFF FALL 2011 AT TARGET CENTER
(LAS VEGAS, NV. – March 23, 2011) – Lingerie Football League, LLC (LFL) continues its off-season momentum with the officials announcing further expansion in 2011. The LFL’s eleventh franchise has been awarded to Minneapolis, Minnesota with an agreement to play its home games at Target Center, also home to the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx.
Minneapolis will join Cleveland, Las Vegas, Green Bay and possibly yet another 2011 expansion market team, all of whom will premiere in Fall 2011. “There is an incredible sports culture amongst millions within the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, and a product like LFL Football will surely resonate amongst both its casual and hardcore sports fans”, said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
“There has been a tremendous sense of excitement in the marketplace since the LFL began discussions about bringing a team to Minneapolis. LFL Football is sure to provide Minnesota fans an entertaining blend of action, beauty and football all wrapped up in one event”, said Steve Mattson, VP and General Manager of Target Center.
The LFL has seen significant development in the 2011 off-season; alongside the (4) four expansion markets announced to date, on Tuesday the league announced a national television contract with MTV Networks’. MTV2 will broadcast LFL games all football season, premiering August 26, 2011 LIVE from ‘Titletown’, Green Bay, Wisconsin at 9PM ET.
Minnesota residents can vote on the team name starting today by emailing LFLinMinnesota@LFLUS.com. The name that has been submitted most often will be selected. The fan that submitted the winning name first, will be awarded lifetime season tickets and the opportunity to host the Opening Night coin-toss.
The Minnesota franchise will compete in the LFL’s Western Conference against the Seattle Mist, Los Angeles Temptation, Green Bay Chill and Chicago Bliss. Target Center will host two home games with the home opener being Saturday, October 1, 2011 and home finale on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
