BIG MOVES: SIN, FANTASY, BIGGEST OFFSEASON WINNERS SO FAR
If you haven’t been following the LFL offseason, you are missing out on the league’s version of Manifest Destiny. This offseason has been a constant shifting of players from one team to another that has been so large it could only be measured by a seismograph. Some of the movement has to do with league restructuring, some moves were made with personal goals in mind, and the impacts these moves have on teams will be just as varied as the player’s reasons for moving themselves.
Windy City to Sin City:
The Las Vegas Sin have not so quietly positioned themselves as one of the most formidable opponents in the LFL, without even playing a game yet. Due largely in part to the acquisitions of former Chicago Bliss stars Tasha “the tank” Pryor and Sarah Swanson, who were persuaded by the bright lights and endless possibilities of a Las Vegas team with nothing but upside for success. Those two players alone are enough to lead a team to the playoffs, but the coup-de-Vegas does not end in Chicago. San Diego’s suspension of operations led stars Tamica Estrella and Audrey Latsko to the city of Sin for a chance at an instant championship, as well.
Add to the mix Miami’s Taira Tuirley, whose move was premeditated, “I had planned on leaving before Miami’s suspension,” and you have a preseason favorite to win the Western Conference that has never taken a snap.
Of note: Be on the lookout for another transfer to Vegas later this offseason as well, Dallas’ Driq Johnson. “It is a definite possibility,” Johnson told 360.
Orlando’s Fantastic Offseason:
The suspension of operations in Miami has not only helped Vegas, but has had a significant impact on another up-and-coming team in the LFL, the Orlando Fantasy. Versatile threats Taylor Thompson and Janae Johnson have already jumped on board. And by start of next season the Fantasy might be showcasing one of the most proven explosive QB/WR combos in the league: Anonka Dixon (certain) and Tina Caccavale (probable); which could mean instant offense and instant impact for a team that failed to find its offensive footing last season.
No Rest For The Winning:
As if the back-to-back LFL champions LA Temptation needed any more help, they will also be acquiring two stars from the San Diego Seduction this upcoming season, as well. Most notably, DE/RB Amber Reed, who will add to the increasingly vast array of explosive options for star Quarterback Ashley Salerno. Also joining LA from SD, O-Lineman Jenn Miller.
Other notable transfers include: Laurel Creel from Seattle to Vegas, and two possible transfers, including Ashley Helmstetter from Miami to Baltimore, or Vegas, and the possible return of star Quarterback Erika Trujillo, of the former Denver Dream, to Seattle.
More news of note: Sadly, the Bliss will be without team captain, and “face of the LFL,” Danielle Moinet next year, who has moved away for personal reasons.
