To break it down: 1) News wise A) the plan is for a north and south division, 14-16 teams. B) Teams to be announced until October. C) Eastern KY will more than likely be in the south for 2012. D) The fact that many teams and leagues tried to get into the arena but decided with the Tarpons and even more the UIFL model. 2) The good A) All the news outlets were there B) The logo was nice and effective. C) My front row seats are half of the Firecats. D) Haines came off with realistic goals. E) The Tarpons already have some"business partners"/sponsors. F) The arena management is behind the team. G) No Jim Terry around.(Yes I heard he was going to show up) 3) The bad A) Not enough press kits for the press. B) No refreshments or even T-shirts at the press conference. This is still the south. C) Haines was trying to brag about Lorenzen. When Lorenzen playing against the Firecats fat boy was smacked around and played like garbage. Shows into question the level of talent is the UIFL. D) No head coach. This must be addressed immediatly for the team to E) The office may not be ready until June.
Fan impression: Not a bad press conference. Haines seems to understand that marketing is the key to success. And the fact it has been 2 years since the Firecats have been gone is good for the team. As someone who has seen all of indoor/arena football for 9 years the team has a decent chance of making it down here.

I wish them luck. Even though the UIFL seems to be doing good so far, the problem of expanding too fast killed Haines the last go around in indoor football. If not done right, it can be a repeat of the scenario next year.

The jump to 14-16 from 6 seems a bit aggressive, but I do think there are a few markets with pretty fairly run teams right now that the UIFL could get very easily (see: Erie, Cincinnati, Marion, Columbus, I don't know enough about other SIFL-"east" teams)...

I'd like to see Erie in the IFL and I think that has a better shot of happening than the UIFL.

Erie's arena isn't big enough for an IFL budget.

That's never stopped teams before.
If they can't afford it and don't have investor backing to move to IFL, then I hope they don't and go to a league more suitable for them. You never know though, investors and minority owners can come around at any time so never say never.

I just want to see what teams join the UIFL from other leagues so I can see them all get new logos and uniform designs!
