Sounds good. I hope that he and the league can put it into successful implementation.
I don't like the travel-only teams idea, one for each division, at all. The way it's brought up suggests that they're only there to pad win totals of other full-fledged teams. I've never been in favor of travel teams, replacement games, or games against non-league semi-pro competition. I've seen many (wish I hadn't) and 99% of them are unwatchable blowouts and a disservice to paying fans.

Dear UIFL Fans,
I am truly honored and excited to be a part of the Ultimate Indoor Football League as we push the boundaries and breakthrough to create the most unique, and owner friendly league in the WORLD! Over the past season as a team owner of two teams in the UIFL, I have gained valuable knowledge that will help make the UIFL even better.
As CEO of Assured Equities IV Corporation the UIFL parent company, we have come up with many ways to help our teams have long term success.
Starting with our 2012 season the UIFL will offer lines of credit to member teams, if needed. The lines of credit will help teams that have negative cash flow during the season, and will make sure that all team complete their schedule, and pay their bills.
We are currently creating an Office of Player Complaints. This office will allow players to communicate with the league on any issues they are facing, without fear of repercussion from their member team. In addition to being able to help make sure that UIFL players are treated properly, it will allow the league to step in and assist a team in need.
As a team owner, it quickly became clear that travel is a major expense in Minor League sports. In an effort to save our member team more money, we have created UIFL Bus Lines, Inc. We have since started purchasing buses for the 2012 season. The league will be able to offer member teams reduced travel, on average of 60% off normal bus rates. This is a huge savings to the teams, and it will ensure that all teams make their road games.
As an Accountant, I feel it is necessary to review team financial statements on a regular basis in order to forecast any potential problems. Our plan is to have an accounting firm review financial statements from potential ownership groups, and our member teams. Member teams will be asked to submit financials on a quarterly basis during the off season and monthly during the playing season.
The league will strictly enforce our league salary cap for both players, and coaches. The salary cap gives teams flexibility to pay players and coaches up to the total amount of the salary cap. Teams can pay bonuses for wins or other things, however the total amount paid out will count towards the salary cap. Any team in violation of the salary cap will be issued a forfeit, along with a league fine, and placed on probation. It is important that we have an even playing field throughout the UIFL.
For the 2012 season, we will operate with two divisions. In an effort to keep costs down, there are currently no plans to play inter-division games. Once the teams are all finalized we’ll announce more details relating to the divisions, and schedule.
We have a NO FAIL RULE! All teams that start the season will finish!
For the 2012 season we will have two travel teams that will be owned by the league. There will be NO expense to the member teams regarding the two travel teams. The travel teams will have names, logos, websites, uniforms, etc consistent with the other UIFL member teams. The travel teams will have paid players as well, and operate under the same salary cap restrictions as the other member teams. There will be one travel team in each division.
To make sure that the league can handle the above, along with our growth, I have hired two additional front office members for the league office. Lucinda Davis, has been named Director of Team Support, and will work closely with each team’s front office to make sure they have trained staff in place and provide ongoing support. She will work with teams on marketing plans, help teams develop a marketing strategy, and assist along the way. In addition to Lucinda, we have named Lisa Ravotti Director of Long Term Planning and Non-Football related Sports Ventures. She will assist Lucinda, and will help teams with sales training and support for sponsors, and ticket sales.
I am very excited for what the 2012 season will bring! Feel free to contact myself, or any of our league staff with any questions and or suggestions.
