Lingerie Football Is Football…
Nov 14, 2011
by Paul L. Richardson
Last Friday evening I had the privilege of watching The Las Vegas Sin versus the Los Angeles Temptation of the Lingerie Football League (LFL). Before you have your assessment that this is just a gimmick, I’m here to tell you this is for real football.
Now I’m not crazy, I understand it’s the LFL for a reason. Everyone in the league could be some type of model somewhere and I have yet to see a lady that is not in great physical condition. I understand that’s the hook: Selling Pretty women playing football in nothing more than a Hooters uniform with Shoulder pads and a shield for a helmet all the while playing on a 50 yard field without a goal post, but believe me, these ladies are for real about football.
From the first kickoff to the last play it is non-stop action. One fan said to me “these girls hit and hit hard” another said “I didn’t know what to expect but it was a great time.”
The game between the Sin and the Temptation had extra meaning because the Temptation had not lost a game in two years and the Temptation came out with the swagger of a team that had not lost in a long time. There was a lot of trash talking during the game. That’s right, trash talking. I heard one Sin player yelling “Not Here” to a Temptation player, referring that they were not going to allow the Temptation to come into Vegas and run “their house”.
After a hard hitting game equipped with an incredible amount of action, I had the opportunity to talk with Las Vegas Sin running back Mia Chambers, who said unlike the Temptation “We don’t talk trash we talk on the field, that’s how we get down and if you don’t know about Vegas now you know” that was agreed with by cornerback Richelle Urenda who added “We don’t need to talk we play and that’s all we need”.
The cool thing about the game is the audience was split. It was not all 20 year old males looking to gawk at women, there was a nice ratio of men and women in attendance.
I’ll leave you with this: The love of the game is the love of the game. There will always be people playing football one way or the other. These ladies decide to do it this way, so before you pass judgment, check it out on a Friday night on MTV2, or better yet if you have an opportunity to see it live, do so, you will not be disappointed.
