L.A. TEMPTATION REHIRES CHAMPION COACH DAVID BIZUB
By: Jim Wallin (LFL360.com)
LOS ANGELES – With one eye on the present and the other on the future, Los Angeles has reached into their illustrious past, hiring former Temptation Head Coach David ‘Biz’ Bizub in the same capacity for the remainder of the season.
Bizub originally left the team for the broadcast booth in 2011, providing analysis for the 2011 All-Fantasy Game in Hamilton, ON as well as in the early parts of the 2011 season.
“While I was announcing, it was tough because I wanted to be on the sidelines,” said Bizub.
Now, the prodigal son returns to the sideline, where he hopes to guide the team back to a third consecutive playoff berth, conference championship and Lingerie Bowl title.
“I am coming back to win a [Lingerie Bowl] Championship. I have missed being at practice working with the girls [and] seeing the team get better week over week during the season. I also missed the competition,” said Bizub.
Los Angeles’ next game also marks their home opener in a brand new venue as the defending champions host the rival Seattle Mist on December 16 (9:00 p.m. PT kickoff) at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
And Bizub also recognizes, after a stunning 28-20 loss to the Las Vegas Sin, his now .500 football team has no room for error if they hope to qualify for the second season.
“We win [against Seattle] and control our own destiny. How quickly we can rebound from the loss to Las Vegas will determine whether or not we will contend for the championship,” said Bizub.
‘Temptation Nation‘ can only hope that the return of the iconic coach translates into more success on the field. LA’s offense is struggling, scoring seven points or less in two of the four halves they’ve played so far this season, including a second-half shut out at the hands of the expansion Las Vegas Sin in November. The recent loss ended the franchise’s 11-game winning streak, including playoffs, dating back to 2009.
“I came back to win the title. I know the girls also have the same goal. We have the talent,” said Bizub.
CHRIS SALERNO MOVES ON
In related news, the team and former co-head coach/offensive coordinator Chris Salerno have parted on good terms, as the rookie head coach moves on to pursue other interests. Defensive coordinator Tui Suiaunoa will remain on the staff.
