The Trenton Steel’s first season might be its last.
The team has canceled its 2012 season amid financial concerns and, with the Southern Indoor Football League breaking up, faces an uncertain future.
“Financially, the team took a big loss last year. That kind of goes without saying,” Andrew Bondarowicz, the Steel’s president and chief executive, told NJ.com Tuesday. “A lot of things we were expecting to see happen didn’t. The amount of corporate sponsorship support that we got was minimal in hindsight. And while we were off to a good start, it’s hard to be sustaining on its own.”
