Many UIFL Teams are in serious money trouble after the UIFL over-expanded beyond their capability (another problem of having league-owned teams).
These 7 teams are in the most jeopardy:
- Carolina Aviators (short of money, it's not looking good)
- Danville Dragons (already dead, just awaiting an official statement that will never come)
- Kentucky Monsters (players are already moving elsewhere)
- Mississippi Hound Dogs (a team in name only, they haven't even got off the ground yet)
[/li][li] Rome Rampage (looking for money to survive...good luck) [/li][li] Tennessee Rail Runners (same as Mississippi, have done nothing) [/li][li] Western Pennsylvania Sting (already a replacement team for when Saginaw left for the CIFL, may be folded by the league depending on how many teams remain)[/li][/ul] The other 9 teams should survive in the UIFL or perhaps bolt to another league/play independent schedule. Of course some could also go under as collateral damage, you never know.

Here's what I've been told about the UIFL teams:
The meetings today indicate there are 10 teams for 2012 (it was a conference call).
It's been claimed that Mississippi has been sold.
Sources have told me that the WPA Sting were sold for $650. Not sure why someone would buy a de facto travel team, but I guess $650's a cheap way to get into the sport...
The six most likely to be gone: Rome, Tennessee, Danville, Huntington, E Kentucky (those two, while holdovers from last year, are owned by the now in absentia CVD), and Carolina.

What about the Kentucky Monsters?

Haines is saying Mississippi is good.
After looking into it more, these 5 teams seem to be locks to be gone:- Carolina Aviators
- Danville Dragons
- Huntington Hammer
- Rome Rampage
- Tennessee Rail Runners
I would say the sixth team will be the Kentucky Monsters, while you are going with the Eastern Kentucky Drillers. I know Van Dyke owns both Huntington and Eastern Kentucky, but I've heard Eastern Kentucky is pretty solid, while Huntington has issues (to include a sexual harassment lawsuit). The Monsters' players were fleeing the place pretty rapidly, so unless they got more funds/investors they're my vote for the sixth team.

Yeah, I hadn't heard of the Monsters issues when I made the first post. Your list is one I'd agree with, but I wouldn't be surprised to see EKY drop off the face of the earth, either.
What we don't know is how many of those 10 teams have homes.

An inside source said the new North Division (not conference) would be the following 6 teams: Cincinnati Commandos Erie Explosion Huntington Hammer Johnstown Generals Marion Blue Racers Western Pennsylvania Sting
That would mean a 4-team South Division. My guess is that would be: Eastern Kentucky Drillers Florida Tarpons Lakeland Raiders Mississippi Hound Dogs
That would mean these are the 6 teams folding (assuming my 4-team South Division guesses are correct): Canton Cougars Carolina Aviators Danville Dragons Kentucky Monsters Rome Rampage Tennessee Rail Runners
