UIFL Announces 5th Team, Canton Ohio

June 24, 2010, Canton, OH - The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) is proud to announce that Canton, Ohio is the fifth market for the 2011 season. The Canton team will play seven regular season home games at the Canton Civic Center Arena that has a capacity of 4,000 fans.
The newest team in the Ultimate Indoor Football League will be known as the CANTON COUGARS. The Cougars ownership includes League Co-Founders Michael Taylor, and Andrew Haines.
“We are excited that indoor football is returning to the Civic Center and the City of Canton. The indoor game offers fast paced action and lots of scoring and is always a great option for family entertainment. We looking forward to working with the Canton Cougars along with the Ultimate Indoor Football League and wish the team and its staff the best of luck in the months to come” Said Geoff Tompkins General Manager of the Canton Civic Center.
UIFL Co-Founder Michael Taylor stated, "We are excited to bring arena football back to Canton. In addition to making sure we have a top notch product on the field, we will make sure we are a positive influence off the field in the local community. We strive to be the most fan friendly sports league and team in the country."
The Cougars will hold a formal press conference in July to announce corporate partners, front office, and the coaching staff.
The UIFL is proud to announce that the league headquarters will also be located in Canton, OH.
The UIFL will begin play in early 2011 and will be announcing teams during the next few weeks.
