LINGERIE FOOTBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES 2013 EXPANSION INTO ATLANTA
GWINNETT CENTER NAMED AS HOST ARENA
(Las Vegas, N.V., 10/02/2012) — Lingerie Football League, LLC officials are announcing expansion into the Atlanta market for their upcoming 2013 season. Atlanta is the 12th market to be named a franchise into “the fastest growing sports league in the US” (BusinessWeek).
The Lingerie Football League is inviting fans to submit possible team names to LFLinAtlanta@LFLUS.com. Fan selected team names need to be submitted by Friday, October 19, 2012 for consideration.
The yet to be named franchise had interest from both Philips Arena as well as Gwinnett Center ultimately choosing Gwinnett Center their home for the 2013 season. The games will be played on Saturday, April 13, 2013 and Saturday, May 18, 2013.
An open-tryout Football Combine date and location will be announced shortly.
“Atlanta is one of those signature markets that any sports league targets. What primarily drove our decision to come to Atlanta was the incredible interest from the city, host arenas and fans”, said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
The LFL will position the Atlanta franchise within its Southeastern Division of the Eastern Conference alongside the Jacksonville Breeze and Omaha Heart.
“It is our intention to offer a diverse range of entertainment options for the community and believe this unique sport is a way to reach a new audience,” said Joseph Dennis, Gwinnett Center General Manager.
"Minor league pro football is a weird universe filled with bounced checks, unpaid bills, empty promises, out-right lies, empty arenas, endless women, endless booze, occasionally drugs, endless trips on rented buses to towns on the outskirts of the Big Time and, for one night a week, a football game." -- Bill Shea
