Thinking about how Billings is coming back with the Billings Wolves, I pondered another question of IFL History.
What if the Billings Outlaws never folded?
If I can take you all on a little history lesson, in 2010, there was a tornado on Father's Day that damaged the Rimrock Auto Arena. Well, afterwards, the Outlaws would fold due to losses from that tornado, as well as other issues.
But what if Billings didn't fold? How would the history of the franchise, as well as the IFL, change?
There's two different ways to look at this. Option 1 is that the Father's Day Tornado never happens, and never damages the arena, as well as the losses for the Outlaws. The other option is that the tornado still happens, but somehow, someway, they are able to obtain the funds to play the next season.
And it is well known that there were a few players from the Outlaws that were involved in a cocaine-trafficking ring. You can also use that as a factor in your theories.
Me? I think they would've lasted a couple more years, before that trafficking controversy would've killed the franchise. I think they would've been kicked out of the league because of those issues.
But enough of my crazy theories? What are your crazy theories?

The majority owner sure didn't put up much of a fight when the arena was arguing with him over the price of rent going forward and took his money and said forget it. I think he was ready to move on to other things and that was all he needed to nudge him along. If the tornado didn't happen, things probably would've progressed as they were for a couple of more years, but eventually that owner would've moved on and the team would have either been sold or folded.
