A punishment is something that will make sure the crime does not happen again. That is true, but the league being more involved from now on and making sure insurance is either obtained through the league on their behalf or coordinated with them, would be the better option. Now if the league was totally corrupt (remember the NIFL) then that wouldn't be too good an option, but if the teams and leagues work together to ensure checks and balances on each side then it should work. First and foremost take care of yourself and your own, and it seems some individual for the Storm didn't do that.

just when I had been really questioning my decision to not renew my season tix...I feel very good about the decision now. I have to say it............ I think the STORM are a better team than their record indicates Funny. I think now would be a good time to get your tickets though, because if I know Riggs and players like I think I do, they'll be taking no prisoners on the field from this point forward and I think we'll be seeing a lot of blowouts.

I'd like to know if they're being nailed on not providing proof, or not having coverage. I'd like to know if any other teams were not covered before the first game played as well. Don't like that quote. May be reality, but I don't want to hear it publicly from a GM. My hope is that it's not reality, but I'm not an Ostritch either. I don't agree with that. Ownership should not be allowed to do that period. If something serious were to happen and ownership couldn't cover it, the player would be totally screwed. If I have to have insurance to drive a car, a team owner should be mandated to have insurance to cover his players...period. Word I got was that all but one owner had voted by Friday night. The other owners definitely took advantage of it. Riggs has got to be livid. I agree that all other teams should be investigated as well.

The league knew about this! There was no investigation, just a witch hunt. Why were these teams so willing to guarantee a fifth consecutive Storm title?!

That's because you are. The IFL is the NIFL. Why wasn't this addressed before kickoff if it was so important? A CIFL team I know of has utilized this procedure, and even with a few surgeries they've had to pay for, it's saved them money. It's a calculated risk, and usually with the fees the league is soooo nice to "give a discount on," it'll save money. If the Storm weren't the only team that did this, everyone better be punished equally and as excessively. Or the IFL will have lost whatever credibility it might still have... Nothing was as bad as the NIFL, nothing. It should've been addressed before kickoff, you're right. It's disappointing it wasn't, very disappointing. Yeah, I don't like teams paying for it themselves. If I can't do with with my car insurance, the teams shouldn't be allowed to do that for their players. Like I said, if someone got seriously injured and ownership couldn't cover it (not an unlikely scenario with some of the owners who don't have a lot of money), the player would be screwed. I agree, everyone should be similarly punished. We all know the other owners took HUGE advantage of this, right or wrong.

It does seem like the league knew about this, but if that's the case why is it all coming out now. It should've been addressed before this. LOL. Why do you think a single other team did anything to guarantee the Storm another title. Doesn't make sense. The Storm are great on the field because they have the best coach and have made efforts each year to put the best team together they possibly can. We all know players are getting better compensated, but pretty much every team does it to some extent. If they aren't caught, ala Quad Cities, there's nothing to be done about it.

I know - that's why this is NIFLesque. The NIFL did this to the Hounds in '02 for an even worse reason.

None of this changes the fact that the fans, players, and coaches are the ones taking it in the T'cutter, and they did nothing wrong. Penalize the owners and office, but don't take it out on the innocent.

No one questioned you on this Josh, we'd say we'd wait and see.
We did question the Saginaw thing though, and so far the player in question, or any other player, has not come out first hand or in the news or legal action about not being payed. That is still a rumor, just or unjust.
