Omaha Beef
Press Release
October 31, 2008
Farewell to a Friend
On Friday, October 24th, the Omaha Beef family lost someone very dear to them. Harry Harris was a great fan but more importantly a great friend and man whose impact on the entire Beef organization won’t soon be forgotten.
Harris was a staple at Beef home and away games since the very beginning in 2000. Known for wearing a horned helmet to every game, his nickname of “Horny Harry” had become well known and loved by all Beef fans and staff alike. His constant and positive presence made a long lasting and unforgettable impression.
“Harry was a great fan of the team,” said Team President, Dakota Crow. “He was a true Omaha Beef family member in every sense of the word. He will be dearly and forever missed.”
“Harry and Rita are like family to me. He was a Grade A example of what a true fan should be,” said Assistant General Manager, Malissa Fritz. “I will definitely miss seeing him at the Slaughterhouse and joining him in the stands on the road. We have all lost a great friend and family member but we know that he will continue to watch and cheer from above.”
Harris’ love for the Beef family ran deep. He began a tradition of awarding players with special cowbells for a job well done during the game. This was just one of many ways in which Harris gave something back to the people he enjoyed most.
Come out on November 17th to Legends Bar and Grill and celebrate Harris’ legacy as the Beef family join together in a fundraiser in his name. More details on this event and how you can help shall be forthcoming shortly.
