TRENTON STEEL ANNOUNCE NEW OWNER, NEW LEAGUE, NEW LOGO AND RESTRUCTURED FRONT OFFICE STAFF
Fanteractive LLC purchases the Trenton Steel and FORGES forward into the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Trenton, NJ (November 4, 2010) – The Trenton Steel today announced that Fanteractive LLC, has purchased the team and that the team will debut in the upcoming 2011 season as part of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL).
Fanteractive LLC is a Westfield, New Jersey based sports management firm founded by New Jersey-based sports and entertainment attorney Andrew Bondarowicz.
Bondarowicz is no stranger to Trenton, having spent several years working in public affairs on West State Street before pursuing private sector opportunities – including talent management firm Aregatta Sports & Entertainment which launched in 2003. In addition to working with numerous entertainers over the years, Andrew has personally represented over 50 professional football players through the various ranks of professional football – including former Rutgers University stars such as CB Derrick Roberson and DT Eric Foster.
American Indoor Football Association (A.I.F.A.) CEO John Morris announced the formation of the Trenton Steel earlier this year while the league sought a local ownership group for the team. Morris and Bondarowicz started to discuss the possibilities in Trenton while working with SIFL Commissioner Gary Tufford on strategic initiatives between the two leagues. With Trenton, the reconstituted SIFL will have 16 teams spanning from New Jersey to Texas.
“Trenton is a great sports city and we feel that our brand of indoor football can be very successful here. We will be able to preserve regional rivalries and give the region an organization that it can be proud of. The SIFL has great leadership in Commissioner Gary Tufford and some exciting new initiatives that will rolling out shortly,” said Bondarowicz.
The Steel has also restructured their front office with sports industry veteran Rich Lisk named as General Manager and Frank Susino as Director of Business Operations. The team will be announcing a new head coach shortly as well.
Lisk served as the Managing Partner of the Steel prior to the purchase of the team and has enjoyed a distinguished career in the sports industry - including stints with the Trenton Titans and the Princeton-based East Coast Hockey League. His most recent experience with indoor football was as the General Manager of the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League from 2005-2008. The Soul won the 2008 Arena Bowl before the league disbanded later that year.
“When I sat down with Andrew on our initial meeting I knew I wanted to be a part of the new Steel,” said Lisk. “I share his passion and vision for the Steel and we look forward to bringing Mercer County and the surrounding area the best affordable, family entertainment available. We have some exciting initiatives planned and expect this team to be a great advertisement for all the area has to offer.”
Susino expands his role as the new Director of Business Operations where he will work closely with Lisk and Bondarowicz on the day-to-day operations of the team. “This is a dream come true for me. Being from New Jersey and being involved in football my whole life - this is my dream. I look forward to working with Andrew and Rich to bring a championship team to Trenton, on and off the field,” said Sussino.
“There are no finer people to carry this team forward than Rich and Frank. Rich is one of the most prominent figures in Mercer County sports in the last twelve years and has a great track record of success, says Bondarowicz. “There are few people I have ever met that have such a passion for indoor football as Frank. Every great team starts with great leadership and we definitely have that in Rich and Frank.”
As part of the transformation of the team, the Steel also released an updated logo. The logo consists of a football icon, complete with laces, and the words STEEL “forged” in riveted gold font with a white and red outline. Underneath the STEEL name is written the name of the capital city of New Jersey, Trenton. Bringing it all together in the background is an image of the world famous “Trenton Makes” bridge.
“Our logo captures the rich history of Trenton. The Roebling steel mills helped forged an important part of the city’s history and the industrial roots are captured in the black, steel gray, and iron red colors. However, we could not abandon the color gold as it is a symbol of Trenton’s modern role as the epicenter of New Jersey and a tribute to the vast contributions of thousands of New Jersey schoolchildren who raised funds through “Dimes for the Dome” to restore the Statehouse to prominence,” said Steel owner, Bondarowicz, “Now, it’s time for some riveting football!”
The Trenton Steel will kick off their inaugural season in the SIFL in March 2011 and will play all of their home games at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ. Tickets packages for the team’s premiere season are now available with season tickets available for as low as $60.00. Tickets are available by visiting the Steel on the web at www.trentonsteel.com or by calling the Steel offices at (609) 656-3300. Don’t’ miss the chance to be part of RIVETING FOOTBALL!!
