2011 AIFA Richmond has a lot of 2010 IFL Richmond. It seems AIFA Richmond is ahead of IFL Richmond in year two, especially with what you have to imagine would be an easier schedule as well.

Richmond Raiders Announce 17 Player Signings

(RICHMOND) - The Richmond Raiders announced today that they have signed 17 players to contracts for the 2011 season.
"Our goal as an organization is to have one of the deepest and most athletic teams in our league," said Richmond Raiders Head Coach Chris Simpson. "With Bryan Randall leading our attack and throwing to targets like Aaron Alexander, Scorpio Brown and Herb Jones, I believe we have set the foundation to accomplish that and to put on quite a show at the Coliseum in 2011."
"We are absolutely thrilled with progress we have made this offseason," said Richmond Raiders General Manager Matthew Felan. "We have had an overwhelming response from sponsors and season ticket holders alike as they see how the Raiders are building toward the 2011 season. We are looking forward to completing our roster in the next several weeks ahead of camp in January."
Offensive Signings:
Aaron Alexander - Aaron Alexander starred at Henrico High School and was the 1999 Virginia State High School Player of the Year. During Alexander's prep career, he threw for 5,768 yards and 85 touchdowns. Aaron played both football and basketball at Michigan State University. Aaron played Wide Receiver in 2010 for the Richmond Revolution. Aaron is currently an assistant coach at Douglas Freeman High School.
Scorpio Brown - Scorpio Brown was a First Team All-AIFA Wide Receiver for the 2010 Champion Baltimore Mariners. Brown led the Mariners with 22 Touchdowns also had 577 yards receiving on the year. Brown played for the Mariners from 2008 - 2010. Brown played college football at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Herb Jones - Herb Jones was one of the leading Wide Receivers for the Richmond Raiders in 2010. Jones caught 46 passes for 550 passes with 10 touchdowns. Jones played Wide Receiver at Virginia Union University.
Lawrence "The Law" Lewis - Lawrence Lewis played Offensive Line for the Richmond Revolution in 2010. Lewis made a difficult transition to the Offensive Line after a long and successful career as a Defensive Lineman. Lewis is a veteran of Indoor Football in Richmond. Lewis began his career with Richmond Speed beginning in 2000. Lewis was a member of the 2005 Richmond Bandits Championship team in the AIFL. Lewis played Defensive End at Virginia Tech University where he was a member of the 1995 Sugar Bowl Championship team.
Tunde Ogun - Tunde Ogun was a star Running Back at Douglas Freeman High School. Following High School, Ogun became the all time leading rusher at Christopher Newport University. In 2008, Ogun ran for 1,857 yards during his Junior Sason. He amassed 3,580 yards during his career at CNU and was a Division 3 All- American in 2008. Ogun graduated from CNU in May 2010 and played briefly for the Columbus Lions of the Southern Indoor Football League.
Bryan Randall - Bryan Randall was the 2010 IFL Player of the Year. Randall completed 197 of 371 passes for 2033 yards total with 58 touchdowns on the season. Randall also rushed for 374 yards and had 12 rushing touchdowns. Randall attended Bruton High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he established new school records for passing yards (6,508) and total offense (8,034 yards). Randall led the Virginia Tech Hokies to their first ACC Championship and a berth in the Sugar Bowl in 2004. Randall threw for 2,264 yards and rushed for 511 yards in 2004. Randall spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Derek Stoudt - Derek Stoudt is a graduate of the University of Richmond where he started for four seasons, first at offensive guard and then at Center. Stoudt was a first team All IFL Center for the Richmond Revolution in 2010.
Defensive Signings:
Jerrett Brown - Jerrett Brown was one of the most versatile players for the Richmond Raiders in 2010. Brown played both Linebacker and Kicker throughout the course of the 2010 season. Brown had 39.5 tackles including 8 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. Brown was the All-Metro player of the year in 2003 when he helped Hopewell High School win the Group AAA Division 5 title. Brown played Linebacker at William & Mary University.
Noland Burchette - Noland Burchette played Defensive End at Highland Springs High School and then starred at Virginia Tech University. Burchette played in 51 games at Virginia Tech where he totaled 137 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks. Noland also had brief stints in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts & Atlanta Falcons. Burchette played Defensive Lineman for the Richmond Revolution in 2010.
Stephen Cason - Stephen Cason was a standout at James River High School and William & Mary University. During his career at William & Mary, Cason recorded 187 tackles, 7 interceptions and scored 2 touchdowns. Cason was a Second Team All Atlantic 10 cornerback in both 2004 and 2005. Cason played for the Green Bay Blizzard of Arena Football 2 and he played with the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League as well. Cason spent the 2010 season with the Richmond Revolution.
Anthony Hailstock - Anthony Hailstock starred at Defensive Back at Virginia State University. In 2010, Hailstock started at Defensive Back for the Richmond Revolution.
Marcellus Harris - Marcellus Harris played Defensive Back for the Richmond Raiders in 2010. Marcellus is a graduate of Virginia Union University.
Asword McLain - Asword McClean started at Defensive Lineman for the Richmond Raiders in 2010. McLain had 26.5 tackles while leading the Raiders defensive front. McLain played college football at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas.
Richard Rodgers - Richard Rodgers is a veteran indoor football player with stints with the Richmond Bandits and Richmond Revolution. Rodgers was a standout linebacker at Atlee High School and North Carolina Central University.
Chris Segaar - Chris Segaar has played during every indoor football season in Richmond since 2004. Segaar played for the Richmond Bandits from 2004-2007. Segaar was a walk-on Special Teams player at Virginia Tech University. Segaar spent the 2010 season with the Richmond Revolution
Maurice Thorne - Maurice Throne started 4 games for the Richmond Raiders in 2010, recording 3 interceptions and 15.5 tackles. Thorne was a standout player at Hopewell High School. Thorne played college football at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
Travis Valentine - Travis Valentine had a stellar career as a Running Back at Virginia State University. He started 1 game for the Richmond Revolution during the 2010 season.
The Richmond Raiders will hold open tryouts at the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday, October 30th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Tryouts will be led by Raiders Head Coach Chris Simpson. Simpson led the Baltimore Mariners to the 2010 American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) Championship as well as to a perfect 14-0 regular season record.
