Koyotes Introduce New Head Coach
Topeka, KS (December 1, 2010) –The search for the Kansas Koyotes Head Coach is over and the new top man is a familiar name in football from these parts: Troy Biladeau. Biladeau will become the fourth head man for the Koyotes in their nine year history announced Team President Ralph Adams.
Biladeau quarterbacked the Silver Lake Eagles to an undefeated (13-0) State Championship season in 1989. He then started for Fort Hays State as their quarterback in 1994 before he began his coaching career as a student assistant for the Tigers in 1995. Biladeau returned to the Topeka area as a Graduate Assistant/WR coach from 1996-98 while he finished his Masters in Education degree at Washburn.
“Troy was the natural choice for us from all the candidates we interviewed for the position,” stated Adams. “Our families have known each other for years and with all the experience Troy has in Indoor Football at a championship level he is our man to bring the Koyotes back to championship form.”
Biladeau’s first exposure to Indoor Professional Football came as the head man for the Wichita Warlords, the Topeka Knights’ rivals in the old IFL. In 2001 he was an assistant coach on the staff of the Arena Cup Champion Quad City (IA) Steamwheelers. He would spend the next eight years in the AF2 league in various positions with the Cape Fear (NC) Wildcats (Atlantic Division Champs ’02-‘03), Wichita Stealth, South Georgia Wildcats, Spokane (WA) Shock (Arena Cup Champions ‘06), then back to the Quad City Steamwheelers (Midwest Division champs ’07). Returning to the Steamwheelers he became the Head Coach, taking them to the AF2 playoffs in 2008. Coach Biladeau’s last position was as Defensive Coordinator for the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League where they made the playoffs this last spring.
“Troy has had success everywhere he has played or coached. That was the determining factor in bringing him on board,” added Adams.
The Koyotes look to kick off their ninth season of Indoor Professional Football in March of 2011. Currently there are several Season Ticket and Gift Certificate specials available for the Christmas season. Call the office at (785) 228-0729 and check them out online at www.koyotefootball.com.
