Unconfirmed rumors of many UIFL Teams folding has been spread lately by one person mainly, but now others are joining the fray.
Rumored to be folding: Carolina Aviators Danville Dragons Tennessee Rail Runners Kentucky Monsters
None of this is surprising, I've said many times over that people are foolish to believe in Andrew Haines and any league he runs.
Whether the above teams will be propped up, folded, or use semi-pro fill-ins, remains to be seen. There are many other rumors about the UIFL circling about as well, it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Danville has responded with this (dated 6 Jan, but released on 5 Jan...lol).
They say they are 2 weeks away from folding unless they get further support.----------------------------------------------------------- danvilledragons.com/archives/435

In other words, Danville's grossly undercapitalized.

The smart thing to do would be to fold those teams now and combine the two divisions into a new Central Division. So I'm fully expecting them to prop these teams up for four weeks before rolling out the replacement semi-pro clubs.

I agree, Haines has gone the semi-pro replacement fill-ins before and has shown willingness to continue that trend with the Western PA Sting.

There might be too many teams to utilize this method. That said, if they do it, his prop-up teams have always at least been organized. We won't be seeing the 138-0 version of beat downs, but more the 84-33 version.

LOL, they all suck if you end up having to watch those unfortunate events.

The 84-33 ones aren't so bad - OVG played many - it was fun to see a team get rolled, while that team looked somewhat competent doing it.
But yeah, every week, that gets old.

I've seen some blowouts between competitive teams where one team is just more dominant, but at least the other team has some weapons and plays well in other games. The semi-pro replacements I can't stand to watch as they are totally overmatched and commit a ton of errors that come about from not practicing as a team much. Sorry, been there and done that and it's not for me.

That's always been the difference between the Haines semipro teams - they do operate as teams with practices...they just don't have the talent of the other teams.
That said, there's going to be too many of them this year.

The Danville Dragons released the players they had signed today.
They are done unless the league props them up with semi-pro players and makes them a road-only team.

I'll give the management group credit for cutting losses now and not trying to run some half-assed ship through the season.
UIFL should've vetted this better, but we kinda knew that wasn't going to happen.

Well, very few of them actually own the teams, and it's not like other options in the north are better right now.

Rumored to be folding: Carolina Aviators Danville Dragons Tennessee Rail Runners Kentucky Monsters. Definitely true rumors. Not only did the original four teams mention fold, but the Canton Cougars joined them and the remaining teams joined the newly formed United Indoor Football League.
