I DVR'd the game and watched most of it with Giggle Monkeys. There were a few players that looked pretty good, and had some real potential, but a few that just looked bad too. It was interesting to see some of the rule differences. No kicking of Field Goal or Extra Points, etc, etc. And, the refs seemed like they were told to call the game pretty loose, and let them just play. (otherwise there would have been a holding penalty on just about every play). The guys calling the game got pretty old by the end, saying some of the exact same things over and over and over again. But, it was neat to at least be able to watch a full game. Gilbert as the coach there makes me laugh a bit, as the abandoned the Spartans to coach in the LFL instead. I was surprised to see his brother Kyle Moore-Brown along the sidelines with him, as Kyle took over for the Spartans when Gilbert left, and is still their coach the last I knew. I don't know if he is a coach for the Chill "officially", but it seems like Kyle does more of the true coaching, as I saw Gilbert a few times just look to him for advice and then tell the team something. A few times the camera was showing Kyle as they talked about Gilbert, I am not sure if the MTV2 crew even knew the difference between them. Not sure if I will watch the games every week, but I will at least do the Pick Em and Fantasy for it.

I like the games, they're fun.
Yes, some girls definitely play better than others. These are both expansion teams though. Wait until you see LA and Philly play, they're both hard hitting and every player is very good.
I'm used to the rules differences after 3 years of watching. The passing gets better every year, but running plays are still where the teams gain most of their yardage and points.
The announcers are indeed repetitive, but at least Sean Salisbury is gone (he was annoying, such a suckup and fake person).
I agree, I don't think Gilbert does much coaching of any substance. His interview at half was full of no insights whatsoever, he's basically a cheerleader.
Ha, yeah, I think the ref's are told to call it lightly.

I was at the game and had a great time. I have been watching and attending indoor football games for about 15 years. This game is fun.
Regarding Gilbert Brown as coach. I don't think he has ever really done much coaching. He's here as a marketing tool. His brother Kyle may be the actual coach. And as far as the La Crosse Spartans are concerned, the team has ceased operations as the owners have moved to Cedar Rapids Iowa.
The refs were local guys who have ref'd in the af2 and IFL. Holding in indoor football is hardly ever called. Besides, what would a player "hold" on to with those uniforms? Green Bay's QB Anne Erler is the real deal and the Minnesota running backs are really good. Although the quick one may be out for the season with a torn achillies. Looking forward to the next game in Green Bay on Sept. 30.

I agree, it's a fun game to watch. I haven't seen one in person yet, but I've watched them all either on the internet or from the half hour highlights they had on MTV2 last year (now full games on that channel this year...much better). I'm planning to take a 6 hour drive up to Seattle to see a Mist game this year though. The closest thing I've seen live is when the Omaha Beef had their cheerleaders do a tackle football game at the halftime of a Beef game. Even my visiting Mom was laughing her ass off and enjoying it, although she couldn't believe what she was seeing. The LFL has a scaled down playbook, but the tackle and play hard (especially L.A.). Gilbert did interfere with the coaching of the Spartans from reports I've heard, but I don't know to what extent. It is hard to hold in the LFL, lol, but it can be done and has been called. It's always funny when you see a big girl take a small one down. For the most part I think they limit the size of the girls, but there are some ringers thrown in who aren't shown in the promotional materials (which is reserved for the lookers). I had the Minnesota QB on my fantasy team and she was the highest point scorer last week and she displayed a nice touch. These are both expansion teams though and I expect both QBs to face a tougher time of it going forward when they play against LA, Seattle, or Chicago.
