2012 AIF Championship
16 Jun (Sat): @ Cape Fear Heroes vs California Eagles Replacement Team
NOTE: Ontario Warriors quit the league on 17 May despite already qualifying for the championship game due to the AIF reneging on contractual financial obligations for travel. Instead of canceling the game, the AIF will bring in a replacement team to play as the California Eagles, which by the way had folded on 20 April. This is the second biggest joke in indoor football history, directly after the last season of the NIFL in 2007.

I keep giving them a lot of credit for their efforts. They follow up next year like this and they got a shot!
This is squarely in the wheelhouse of NIFL circa 2006.

There's no way anyone can beat NIFL 2007. That's a lot of phantom teams.

Added a poll on who you think will come in to play as Cal Eagles.

I picked the Chattanooga Generals, but if they get the Virginia Badgers to play, the helmets will be the correct color. The league had a chance to end the season on somewhat of a high note with a good championship game between the Stampede and the Heroes, but decided to ignore that opportunity.

Apparently coach Gunning knows who the league will bring in, or he is playing along. www.fayobserver.com/articles/2012/06/10/1183499?sac=fo.sportsI remember reading that the Wyoming Cavalry owners had "met all the 2007 NIFL West owners and were happy with them." That really worked out well for them, didn't it.

Oh, Cape Fear ain't leaving the AIF. Didn't realize Morris' right-hand man was their GM.

Oh, Cape Fear ain't leaving the AIF. Didn't realize Morris' right-hand man was their GM. That explains the statements from Cape Fear personnel backing this farce. I wonder if fans there will feel the same way.

Second worst indoor football season put on by a league EVER (after 2007 NIFL). A replacement team championship game ... unbelievable the contempt Morris and cohorts have for people. And if they play in 2013, which it looks like they're trying to, they'll make a good effort to bridge that gap...

Impossible to pass 2007 NIFL, but yeah, they could get closer. So sad.
