I plan on it. I really want them to succeed. Any suggestions? Do I just call the local sports radio show and say, "Hey did you guys catch the game last night?" Send e-mails and letters to the local TV show asking for more coverage?
I bought season tickets to all three seasons of the Brigade, had bought season tickets the year they canceled the league, and then bought season tickets the last year. I was always taking new people and asking people to go. LOL
I would really appreciate your advice.
Can I say I am a little stoked that I will get to road trip to away games this year. Sedalia and Topeka here I come.

Depending on how they've structured their front office, it could be anyone from the GM to a specific position to deal with media on the team's behalf. Whoever it is, they need to establish a rapport with the sportswriters and tv stations, give them whatever access they want, free tix, etc. If they could care less, then they need to provide the sportswriters with blurbs, paragraphs, and photos that they can print or tailor to their needs (do the work for them and more often than not some of their stuff will get printed). If the tv stations don't send a crew, give them video highlights. Whoever it is has to be aggressive and personable (a salesperson).

But bringing up a game on a local news stations facebook page as a fan never hurt a little bit of self advertisement...There are things like that a fan can do to help promote the team and even a booster club/fan club.

A lot of times interns do the work I mentioned, so if you really want to help the team you could always intern for them.

Just for the sake of Kemper Arena, I hope the KC team succeeds. The owners of the arena (American Royal) are determined to demolish the arena. For this reason alone, I hope the team is a success.
I agree though that marketing should be #1 over winning. The Outlaws suck at marketing and I think they could be great if they knew how to market the team right. The winning and talent should follow if they spend some money and get the fans to show up and get behind the product.

Banana Cat, I have been reading through alot of these threads and it would seem you are a big fan of the Beef and O.J. Simpson. Well I can tell you that O.J. was one of the fan favorites (He went to High School in the area, and did alot of charity stuff last season) for the Command last season, and I think he will be a big fan favorite for the Renegades this season. You planning on going to see him catch three of four TD's on you guys this June (Yes that was some **** talking LOL)? It will be our last game of the season, and if we are doing well I am planning to make it my third road trip.

I live in Oregon now, so I won't be making any live games unfortunately. That's why I hope the league does good as far as video and audio broadcasts go. I'm not surprised that Simpson is also a fan favorite in KC, he's a great guy. Go BEEF!

Well you say the success of the team is dependent on the marketing department. I am starting to wonder how successful the KC team will be. The only reason I know about them is because I was looking to see if the Command was coming back, so they are not really getting the word out. Then you have the little fact that I filled out a thing on their webpage expressing interest in purchasing season tickets. I received an auto-generated e-mail that night saying some one will contact me by phone to follow up. That was a week ago. Not a very good marketing department when you have someone coming to you to get tickets and you neglect to get back to them. I can only imagine the job they are doing with people who are not actively looking to buy tickets.

My understanding is they have ONE PR person, and I don't know if they are full-time. I do know they have been in touch with at least one tv station however, because a friend of mine works for that station. The first year for a new team isn't always the smoothest. In Sioux City we are probably covered by every tv station, have a radio station to the live play-by-play and also have the newspaper sports guys there to write an article which is usually posted that night. Keep in mind the Bandits have been around for twelve or thirteen years now? (I don't remember anymore.) It takes time and persistence by the team to get the media coverage.

And if they had an intern that could write articles or releases to send to the media, that greatly helps, too. (With photos would be even better!)

This continues to be the problem in all leagues with new teams. The owners don't want to put up enough money at the league level to offer support for the new team. This should be treated like any franchise business. You should get a blue print and a ton of support and help. However all you get is a book of rules and a monthly bill. There is a lot of history to learn from in the CPIFL with some of those teams. The league that figures out how to put together a duplicatable system and is willing to invest into the new teams coming in is the league that will finally get things right!

I see Mid Mo raised ticket prices from $5 to $12. That is a nice jump in price for local fans especially considering they never have and dont pay their players. Generally they have a full crowd. When will teams learn figure out a way to keep ticket prices $5-8 less then $10. You better be winning games with ticket prices that high 47

You better be winning games with ticket prices that high 47 gotta afford those league dues somehow... they aren't in the APFL, my best guess is Bob Scott is actually holding teams accountable.

There is not any league dues? I'm guessing it is for them to be able to pay players and make money and crying about 12 dollar tickets is very sad indeed. I have never payed less then 10 a ticket and never will as I support my team and want them to succeed and 5 dollar tickets will not allow for them to succeed.
