Finally beat Spider-man the ending was kind of lame but set up for a sequel. Got a new high score in bowling as well bowled a 247. Still hovering around the 1300 range and am stuck around 960 on tennis. Nice score in bowling, better than mine. Eventually I'll hit bowling hard again, but probably right before my next visit by my Mom since she likes to play it (and I don't like to lose, especially to her). Read some of my tips for Wii Sports Tennis in this thread.

Yesss. I finally got Gold in the 150cc Flower.
My first try tonight I got 1st in the first race, 2nd in the second race, 3rd in the third race, so I needed to win the last race to get the gold, but the last race is Wario's Mine and I'm terrible at it...and I got 12th and finished third overall...agghhh.
So I decided to do practice time trials for Wario's Mine to get better. I raced against the Ghost and did absolutely terrible, fell off the track 4 times. I was using the Flame Bike and the steering is so touchy on that, too touchy that it's really hard to control, so for my second try I went with the Flame Kart and wow...I actually beat the Ghost big time, I was flying and didn't fall off the track once. So I tried the Flower Cup again using the Flame Kart and finished 1st in two of the first three races and then on Wario's Mine I was actually in first going into the last turn before the finish line (it was right in front of me) and I got hit by a blue shell and fell to third....but it didn't matter since I had first overall and got Gold in the Flower Cup...oh yeah.
I was using the bike a lot lately because it's faster, but I'm finding on some cups it's better to use the kart.
Now it's just the 150cc Star Cup left. I'll try to finish that one tomorrow to complete my gold quest.

Well, I didn't get even one gold in Mario Cart this weekend . . . Not as bad as you may think though . . . I didn't play it. It was a Wii fit weekend.

Well, I didn't get even one gold in Mario Cart this weekend . . . Not as bad as you may think though . . . I didn't play it. It was a Wii fit weekend. That's cool. Wii Fit is still my favorite. Well, I just finished the 150cc and have Gold in all cups now. The last was the star cup so I did time trials against the ghosts to improve my times and practice shortcuts and it worked. Koopas Cape was always hard for me, but thanks to the time trials I got first in it. Once I got Gold in the Star Cup, it unlocked a fourth series to do, Mirror Mode. I'm not sure what Mirror Mode is, but now I have to do that. My daughter's catching up, she's finished Gold in the 50 and 100cc's and is halfway done with the 150cc's. I have to keep leading the way and do the mirror mode before her so as to keep my rep up...lol. She beat my ghost time on Warios Mine just to show she's faster still, but I'll let that one slide for now.

Yeah, I have to monitor one of my twins on wii fit, (diabetes) she like to play it so much it causes problems with her blood sugars. The wife and I have to cut her off from playing too late in the evening, or else she end up with dangerously low blood sugars throughout the night. It's all good though, we just keep a close eye on how hard/long she plays . . . I played a little cart late last night and this morning. (Only one 150cc gold so far . . . ) I had a few nice runs going on and was all fired up to add to my gold metal collection . . . But then it seemed every other second I was being blown up, ran over and electrocuted. . . . Then it took everything I had not to rip the ****ing game right out the *** **** wall. I'm just glad I don't let it get to me . . .

I'm just glad I don't let it get to me . . . I don't know that much about diabetes, although I probably will in the future since it runs in the family, but what is low blood sugar caused by?...I just thought it was because you need to eat to keep the levels up. Does a lot of activity all effect the levels and if you are majorly active, then that means you need to eat more during those times? Just curious since I'll probably be going through that. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about Mario Kart. You know, my cursing is almost non-existent nowadays and I've been doing pretty good at not doing it at all. Playing Mario Kart brings it all back, and I can't help it. The mutha effin game pisses me off to no end. I apologize to my daughter after I lose my temper on the game after getting hammered like you did when having a big lead, then you get hit by a effin blue shell. The only defense against a blue shell is a speed boost and you won't have a speed boost in your arsenal if you're in first unless you're lucky enough to get it when not in first, get first, and not lose it (nearly impossible with all the pows and lightning strikes and such). If you do have a speed boost, right when the blue shell comes at you it starts to turn down, then hits you, right when it starts to point to you that's the time you hit the speed boost and you're boosted clear...but good luck having a speed boost while in first. I saw my daughter repeating to herself one of the words I spewed out as if trying to figure out what it means and I told her it didn't mean anything and to forget it, but I know she won't. Man I hate this effin game. I thought I was done with the cups until that mirror mode got unlocked. What Mirror Mode is, is it's just like the 150cc cups, except the tracks are reversed, ala the mirror title. Think of looking at a track in a mirror, a left turn is now a right turn, etc. So you'll be going down the track and force of habit you'll want to turn left based on recognition of the track and the next thing you know you're out of bounds...very frustrating. So far I've done 6 cups and got 2 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 1 Bronze. I think it's harder than the 150cc because of the unfamiliarity of the track and the fact you can't practice mirror mode in time trials (that I know of). Man, my right thumb that presses down the 2 button is killing me. I should lay off the thing for a couple of weeks since I have a hard time gripping stuff now, but I don't want my daughter to catch up to me. Ugh, I hate this effin game.

Yeah, you have it right. Sometimes it's a challenge if she plays too hard in the evening, and then her blood sugar continues to drop throughout the night while she's sleeping. Activity can really decrease her levels even though she always has a snack before going to bed.

I could be awhile before I get all golds in the 150cc. I have metals in all but two courses, but only one is gold. I don't get much playing time during the week, but I'll see if I can catch up to you and your daughter. Short cuts are taking me awhile to learn, but I have a couple of them down to a science. There are a couple others that seem too hard to pull off. I'll see if I can write down which ones are giving me fits and maybe you'll have some input for me. I need to check out that video you linked again, it really helped a lot.

Well, after going home for lunch and ignoring the pain in my thumb to try to get more golds in mirror mode I finally pushed my thumbs pain passed it's threshold and it's now out of commission. I only managed to collect another medal, but not gold for my lunchtime efforts. It cost me big time though, because my thumb is now swollen and I have to ice it a couple of times a day. It hurts just from the slightest pressure now, which makes even mundane tasks, like putting on clothes, seem hard now. Lifting weights yesterday was hard for some of the exercises. All because of some ridiculous game. I shouldn't even have the injury, but for some reason I just grip the steering wheel too tightly while pressing down the 2 button, like a vice grip, and now my whole thumb is paying the price...I guess it's like carpal tunnel symdrome for the thumb. I've never played video games before the Wii, so controllers are all new to me. Well, I did play Madden once and some shoot em up game once, but I didn't know what I was doing both those times.
Anyway, I tried playing Mario Kart with the Numchuck remote add on and just couldn't do it. The only way I can do it is with the steering wheel so I'm on the sidelines for at least two weeks. I just coached my daughter last night to get her to improve her times and methods so she can get all golds. I can help anyone else as well, if they need tips or tricks. I've already linked some great sites for that and practicing time trials on problem tracks really helps get the track layout down and also helps practice shortcuts. Some shortcuts turn out to not be worth it in the end, unless you can completely master them, so just be careful of that. Flicking the Wii remote up, or shaking it, right when taking a jump and your wheels are still on the ramp or edge, will result in a speed boost when you land, very very useful indeed, but be careful as sometimes you will end up out of bounds if not careful. If anyone needs any specific tips let me know. Drifting is also a useful skill to manage to learn effectively, but it's not something I've managed to do very well yet. Youtube has some great lessons on learning to drift and I've linked those as well.

Good luck Freedom.
Do you know the trick when you're in first?
When you hit a box with an upright Question Mark (?), then you get a tool that can help you, but when in first you're limited to the one banana, three bananas, green shell, red shell, and empty box (with an upside down question mark). Most peope think these aren't great, but in fact all but the empty box are awesome. When you get a banana or a shell, hit (and hold down) the left or right directional arrow pad and the banana or shell will drag behind your vehicle. How does this help you, well if someone shoots a shell at you it will cancel it out if you get hit from behind, which is awesome. Also, if someone crashes into you from behind and you have a shell, they flip over and not you...and if it's a banana, they spin out of control. The three bananas is the best as of course it's triple the protection. None of these protect against Blue Shells unfortunately though. Make sure you keep holding the left or right arrow button when dragging the device though, otherwise it will be released. I believe the three bananas will stay regardless, but I'm in the habit of always holding it just in case.
It's best just to get rid of the empty boxes as they don't really do anything to protect you, but if no "good boxes" are forthcoming for awhile, then keep it until someone gets close behind you and release it so they can crash into it and flip over.

Okay, I knew you could drag the three bananas and have the shells twirl around you, but I didn't know you could drag a single. Maybe that will help me enough to get my golds. I did a few races and managed one gold last night. (Three total in the 150cc) I can get out front and lead the races but on the final lap it seems I always get blown up at the end and drop down to fifth or worse. (Thats usually when I want to rip the game out of the TV set) Maybe armed with this new info it will be what I need to get 'er done. Also found out a big, heavy car helps me a ton on the rainbow track. Thanks for the tips.

Yes, always choose a kart for the Rainbow Road and Wario's Mine respective cups...they stay on the track better. I choose a bike for all other cups.
